We booked the hotel thru asiatravel.com and paid RMB$380 a night for a double bed. Located on Shamian Island, the hotel is clean and service is good. The nearest subway station is Huang Sha which is about a 10-15 minutes walk. What I particularly like about the location is after a day of running around, it feels good to return to somewhere quiet, away from the hustle and bustle. Rooms amenities are standard, hair dryer, kettle, TV (cable), dressing table, free internet connection........ The little extras are, umbrella, slippers, bathropes. Housekeeping is twice a day and they change your towels everyday. Towels are sealed in plastic bags, so is the bathropes and slippers!
Service is good, at least to me. I have forgotten to bring a socket adapter for my mp3 player and a phone call to housekeeping solved my problem. Front desk is also attentive to your neeeds and request, much better than some I came across.
The only complain that I have is the whole place smells of cigarette smoke and there isnt a non-smoking floor. The room smells like a pub. When you lie down on the the pillow, the smells can be a lttle overwhelming.
