METRO
by jlee008
This is probably one of the fastest and easiest ways to get around Guangzhou. The metro is modern and clean, much like the metro stations in other major citites. The signs are written in both Chinese and Pinyin. It is easy to navigate.
You have to purchase tokens from machines in order to ride the metro. If you don't have change, you can goto one of the booths and they will give you change. However, they don't sell tickets.
It is very convienent since it connects to the main bus station and train station, Guangzhou Dong Zhan (translated as Guangzhou East Train Station). This helps getting in and out of Guangzhou so much easier!!!
Memorial Garden to the Martyrs
by herzog63
This photo was either taken at the Peasant Momement Institute or the Memorial Garden to the Martyrs. They are located quite near each other (easy walk) and both have interesting historical significance in the struggle of the of the Chinese people. There are many gardens, walkways, paths and halls to check out and spend a couple hours learning some historical facts or relaxing in the parks. For me it was a small detour on my day trek to the zoo.
Two consequent trips made in 2002

In 2002, I worked in a small IT software company so my trip to GZ was indeed budget travels.
No much fun expect I met an old friend who was heading to US.
We hadn't seen each other for over 8 years before that gathering. And no idea on how many years ahead our next meet as he is in US now.
