View from a twin river-view room at the 14th floor by ZenLady34, 3 more photos We stayed in Hotel Guangzhou for five nights. I just can't complain, it was good value for the money. The hotel is located just five steps from a metrostop entrance. There is a park right opposite to the hotel but there was also (June 2007) a building site in between the park and the hotel. So, if you book a room from this hotel you might want to ask for a "city view room" as the construction work does hear loud and clear to you river view room. We booked our room thro' Sinohotel and the reservation worked very well. I tried direct booking but did not get a reply to my English language emails. There were few staff members which spoke English, but all the staff was friendly and very helpful. As in all China the hotel beds are hard. We had to change a room as the air conditioning machine went out of order and some water came from the ceiling to the floor. The reception responded quickly and put us in a better room for the last night, without extra charge. The room was a bit nicer but the bed was stone hard.
They serve only Asian breakfast at the hotel, but dont worry on the other side of the street there is a Blenz coffee, where you can take your morning cup of coffee and sandwich. It can also be ordered to your room for a 50RMB extra charge. The room was spacious and clean and there were slippers (my favorite thing!). The bathroom was clean and they provided shampoo and bathfoam. There were a safe-box in the room. But best of all it was easily reached from airport with airport express line number five. The price was only 20RMB. In the same building there is a foot massage place on the fifth floor. So you don't need to go far to get your feet massaged. It was fine, we visited twice there. The price not bad either, basic feet massage 38RMB for 60mins. The hotel has also a Ticket counter, where you can buy tickets to busses, trains and possibly to cruises also. We bought a bus tickets to Hong Kong and oneway trip was 85RMB and the bus collected us from the door steps of the hotel. Perfect! However it would have been nice to know that travelling with suitcases is a bit demanding as on the way there is three bus changes at the frontier... but we managed ok. Their hotel netpage is very informative, take a look and feel free to ask me if you need any additional information.
