The updated Air Asia website will be ready soon. A representative of Air Asia asked me a couple days ago for permission to use one of the photographs from my VT Shenzhen page.

Chinese eat leopards in Shenzhen!

by Confucius

Looks like none of my VT Shenzhen photos were used on the Shenzhen destination page. Oh well, no big deal...
However I was surprised to see "leopard" mentioned as a specialty of Guangdong cuisine in the first paragraph about dining in Shenzhen...
...can't wait for the international animal activists to start protesting at Air Asia headquarters!

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

So cheap to shop!

by simcard about beijing road

This commercial street sells almost everything - clothes, shoes, etc.. Things are extremely cheap. Spending 2 USD, you can get yourself a really nice pair of shoes. You can buy so many pairs and just throw them after you get tired of them.

Guangzhou Orchid Garden (Lan Po)

by jlee008

There is an immediate sense of serenity as you walk through the rounded doorway and along the garden pathways. Guangzhou or Canton Orchid Garden is, as its name suggests, a small garden that specializes in orchids. There are three greenhouses that which house 200 varieties of orchids including cattleya, cybidium, dendrobium, oncidium, and vanda. In addition to orchids, there is also the beautiful flora that decorate the rocks and paths of the garden. Visit the different pavilions like the Hall of Exquisite Fragrance or the Aromatic Flowers Garden.

Because orchids are my most favorite flower, I hold quite a bias to this place. The tranquility of the garden is soothing. It is a pleasant retreat from the fast paced city life of Guangzhou. Take a stroll along quiet pathways and calm waters. Enjoy a lazy tea in the teahouse while watching the breeze flow through the trees. Sit, relax, and escape to serenity.
