Go to Nathan Rd in Kowloon. There are several travel agencies that can get you a tourist visa in a few hours. I usually use shoestring travel.

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

Amado Mio.

by Guantanamera

Strange synchronicities had underscored my visit to San Francisco prior to my arrival in China and another one happened in Guangzhou... I had brought a cd with me to GZ and played it one day for Xiujuan so she could here some music that I liked... One of the songs she heard was the Pink Martini version of "Amado Mio" which Rita Hayworth had originally sang in the Hollywood classic film "Gilda". Not long after I played the song for Xiujuan, I was also singing the lyrics to her as we were walking across South China Normal University campus... Then later on that same night, we were watching tv and the movie feature of the night was "Gilda"!

Gong Yuan Qian is probably the most important station in the Guangzhou Metro System, being at the axis of metro lines 1 and 2, which traverse central Guangzhou... It is a big station, but certainly not nearly as big as Ch?telet station in Paris. It is very modern and well organized, and is also situated next to many of the shopping areas of central Guangzhou such as the north end of Beijing Lu.

By late November, the stores, streets and lights are out in time for Christmas. Pretty nice to see. We won't be home for Christmas, we will be in Thailand, New Year's will be in Chiang Mai. Since I misplaced that picture, here's one from Singapore.
