Xiqiao Shan Teng.
by Guantanamera
While hiking around Xiqiao Shan, you will find many of these beautifully designed small Chinese pavilions called tengs... They are a great place to stop and relax, escape the heat on a sunny day or escape the rain on a stormy day... We came across this one while investigating a crumbly old staircase that went off in an unknown direction, leading us to a high secluded area just off the main path... Don't you think it's the perfect clandestine hideaway for lovers to share some romantic moments together...?
City by day!

Guangzhou is a huge city, very spread out, and it can be categorized into new city zones and old city zones... The old city zones contain the most ancient parts of the city and the new city zones are very modern...
Life in a little Guangzhou suburb....

"Phoenix City and Phoenix City Bilingual School"
Phoenix City is really more of a development than a city, but it's really nice....so nice in fact that it's almost plastic. It's a gated community and you can't just waltz into the place unless you have the proper documents....but, that's China for you. It seems in China that everything evolves around people that wear uniforms. Everybody wears uniforms....street sweepers, gate guards, soldiers, restaurant staff, hotel staff, teachers, students....the list goes on....and the guards just love to check documents. To a westerner, like myself, it all seems rather ridiculous at some point, which for me, was the point just after being pissed off over all the hassles I had gone up against from said people in uniform.
Ah well....I could go on and on and *** till the cows came home about China, but it wouldn't do any good. I learned my lesson fast and moved on....for me, China just wasn't my cup of tea.
