Ancient site of foreigners? district (ASFD) is located at Guangta Lu, the street of the oldest mosque Huaisheng Si. Guangta Lu (or Guangta road) during the Tang-Soong dynasty (7th-10th century) was a special appointed lane/road specifically reserved for foreign traders, their families, relatives, workers, etc, where most coming from Persia and Arabs with many stayed decades in Guangzhou, some had families while some married and became permanent resident. Guangta Lu was a gathering point for all foreigners then, the Tang history recorded these foreigners were multimillionaires living extreme lavish lifestyle and once their population reached ?wan? (more than ten thousands). I visited Guangta Lu and saw their descendants, they are known as Chinese Hui Muslim. So, if you are looking for Persian or Arabian descendants, this is the place.
