Strategically located Hotel in Guangzhou
I had stayed a couple of times here. The hotel is strategically located right in the center of the city. The location is highly recommended for tourists and businessmen. The price is very reasonable ranges from $40 up.
The design, amenities, cleanliness, and services are great. It has clean rooms, free in-room internet, and helpful staff.
There is a shopping arcade in the lobby. It is near to shopping centers wholesale and retail, and Beijing Lu (Beijing Road), famous retail stretch of clothes, shoes, restaurants, etc.
It has spacious cafe, and if you decide to try Chinese food, it is very near to Pearl river where there are a number restaurants and the seafood restaurant.
Landmark Canton is also one of the few hotels where buses/coaches from Hong Kong make a stop. So if you are travelling from Hong Kong via coach and you want a hassle free drop-off, this hotel is one of them.
Unique Quality: Free in-room internet. Just Plug the cable to your laptop.

Landmark hotel in Guangzhou
I booked my accomodation through sinohotel (www.sinohotel.com). The internet rate was RMB455 per nite. I was given a nice room on the 18th floor overlooking the beautiful Pearl River. So if you are into romance and getaway, the room view is truly breath-taking especially during the night when the lights are lit up along the river banks.
The restaurant on the 2nd floor serves great dim-sum and cantonese foods. My only gripe is that there are many diners smoking and "polluting the air". However this is happening in almost all the restaurants and eateries that I visited in various places during my stay in Guangzhou.
Service wise, I would not give high marks to the hotel. The front-desk does not give guests a very welcome or warm reception. It is more of a matter of business. Again I suppose I should not be comparing the hotel with those 5-star international hotel chains.
Unique Quality: Landmark is located in Haizhu Square. It is a mere 5 minutes walk to the metro station. I would caution that you be extremely careful when you cross the busy road to get to the station.
If you are a shopperholic, there are many wholesale centers around Landmark hotel. A short walk to the west direction, you would find sports shoes, ladies fashion wears and leather goods in the malls and hundreds of shops around the area. Also if you are looking for imitation goods, there are quite some selection there. Or if you walk to the east side of Landmark hotel, there is a wholesale mall selling heaps of the latest costume jewelleries.

Hotel Landmark
very spacious. Got buffet breakfast provided and food is great. Great view of the Pearl River which, when lit at night is truly a romantic view...Very conveniently located near the metro and shopping centre so shopping is not an issue. Staff were very polite and understood both english pretty well and chinese as well. Lots of facilities though we did not try it.
They provide complimentary mineral water daily. It was mentioned at the sink that the tapwater is drinkable after boiling but we didnt try cos the water has a slight smell of mud...just slightly though...overall a great place to be. We feel so safe when in the hotel.
Unique Quality: Nice view of the Pearl River..a plus... and they really do treat ppl who order suite very nicely.. special waiting room with drinks. Buffet breakfast... even check in/out is at this special level where u dun have to squeeze with the rest of the ppl. Kinda like ppl fawning over you, if u like this kind of treatment.
There is gym and billard room too...the indoors swimming pool is ok...but looks abit mulky...
internet connection in the room with rotating tv so u can watch while in the living room or bedroom, and even toilet... ;D

nice park across the street
The room I stayed in was larger than I thought it would be - clean- nice people working there- every evening they had a little happy hour show serving a mysterious red drink and with a chinese song and dance hour- the song and dnace thing were interesting - the free drink was scary ... but the bar is there so I got a beer.
Unique Quality: There is a park across the street where it looks like the locals go every morning to exercise - one morning a bunch of people were out there doing the salsa (at 7am!)
The only negative thing about the hotel is that the water was very very smelly - One evening I went to visit a friend who was staying at the Holiday Inn and I noticed that the water there didnt smell.

Clean and Cheap
The room is neat and with good facilities. Internet access, refrigerator, hair blower, security container are all available and free for use.
One think I dont like is the dark color of the furnitures. I think dark color makes the atmosphere thick and tense.

A Good Choice
I stayed at the Landmark when I visited for the Chinese New Year.
It has all the comforts of the White Swan but at a much lower rate.
The resturant on the second floor has great Dim Sum and is a favorite of the locals.
Also be advised the hotel is on top of a natural hot spring and is feed in to the hot water system. Your hot water me be a bit on the yellow side.
Unique Quality: Very close to the river walk and some great resturants.
The ferry dock is close also, so you can take all of the river tours.
And if you need a burger fix, there is a MacDonalds across the street.
There is a small park in front of the hotel where you can take a morning walk and watch the senior citizens practice their Tai Che.

Where to take bus from GZ Hotel to Macau directly
I will be staying in Guangzhou Hotel.
Where is the nearest point to board the bus TO MACAU? Is it possible to catch a direct bus w/o stopping at Zhuhai customs?

If not from Guangzhou hotel itself then certainly from Landmark Canton Hotel, which is on SE corner of Haizhu Sq (near the river). I don't know if any buses from anywhere go through the gate - you probably need to get off and walk through, same as going into HK.

I was just looking at the brochure, and it claims taht all buses will go through to Metropark Macau.

I have heard they do but as you are entering another "country" you have to go through Zhuhai and Macau immigration and customs.
