A new 5 star hotel. however the lobby the surrounding area looks crappy.
Very beautiful swimming pool
I stayed here for 3 nights and found it to be a well situated and comfortable hotel. There were plenty of places to eat nearby but not in the hotel. The reception staff were helpful and quite cheerful for Chinese !!
Had a double bed, nice lighting and usual amenities in the room, clean and quiet (BUT only if you are not on the wall adjoining the all night Karaoke bar ).
Great view of the building site across the road but apart from that as with many city hotels , no views to speak of.
However located just 5 minutes walk from the River pearl promenade and bridges. great place to stroll at night. Also 10 minutes from Shaiman Island which is a pleasant car free leafy island up the road. Many young to be married couples go there Saturdays to have their pre-wedding photos taken.
Close to the subway and some good local food outlets.
This hotel has a lot of history and old photos adorn the hotel showing it in its glory days. It has character and feels good. In the ground floor area there is a massage parlour and some small outlets
At SanYuanLi district, you can find really low budget room to stay for long time. By look at the handwritten advertisement, you can roughly have an idea the price for renting a room of an apartment around SanYuanLi district.
Prices quoted are for monthly rental, a single room cost in within 500 – 1000 with aircon, living romm area and balcony.
I booked this hostel from the website hostelworld cos the price is very low during the rush season,I didn't expect too much cos the price is very low.The hostel arrange free airport pick-up,that make me save a lot of time to ask someone else. The hostel is right in the city center, there are three 5-star hostels nearby,it takes around 5-7 minutes by walking from metro(subway) to the hostel. On the way to the hostel,I found Burger King and one Spanish restaurant, also, there are starbuck and many pubs nearby.
The hostel has 4 rooms only but every clean, the owner of the hostel change the towl and wash the floor every day.I love this place cos the Internet(WiFi) is very fast, not like other hostel, many guests share the Internet, here less than 4 guests using WiFi.
The free breakfast is great, coffee, milk, wheat and white bread, black tea and one apple(banana) .The owner ask me what I like most for breakfast,I said I love yoghourt, the next day,I found my favourate on the breakfast menu.
I got one metro map and city map from the hostel, they also offer one English guide book for the Guangzhou lastest event pub and bar.
The owner of this hostel love travelling around the world,we share a lot about backpacking tour.
The unique point of this hostel is from the heart of the owner. He treat you like a family member, give your very constructive suggestion on Guangzhou tour, business or sightseeing.
This so called Youth Hostel is set in the beautiful and quiet surroundings of Shamian Island which is a lovely little leafy island away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. I've no idea why it's called a Youth Hostel as there was nothing there that I could see that constitutes it as being one except for some dorms around the back. Anyway, I stayed here for a couple of nights and enjoyed it and the local area a lot. I had a double room for RMB200 as they didn't have any singles available. The room was large and bright despite the dark furniture. It had a cable TV, huge double bed, a/c, wardrobe, desk, 2 chairs, table but a small bathroom with a hot water shower that you ended up getting water all over the WC. The service at reception was very good and fast plus there's a train and plane booking counter near the lift. I booked an overnight train here for a fee of RMB30 without any problems at all. There's also a massage and hairdressers on site as well. There's a Starbucks just down the road, plus a few restaurants and a bar called Lucy's.
This is a beautiful hotel in a perfect location in the Shamian district area. Most peaceful place you could think of.
I stayed in the Holiday Inn and thankfully my room was upgrade to executive room, so it was even better
I'm not referring to any particular hotels. Just like to let you know that during Canton Fair (held every April and Oct of the year), generally all hotels in GZ, especially those near the tradefair exhibition halls will mark up their room rates around 3 to 5 times their usual rates.
So be prepared to pay more for hotel fees if you're coming in April or Oct of the year. Another thing, most of the hotels would be fully booked during the Canton Fair. So, you need to book the hotel rooms earlier, just in case you will not be able to get the hotel you want.
Very cheap 1-bedroom service apartment with a living room and almost non-existent amenities in the kitchenette. Toilet is squatting type and share the same compartment as the shower.
Bed is clean but hard. Sofa squeaks.
never ever go to this hotel
i guess i shouldnt have booked it before checking on vt. the hotel was in such a bad location. it was difficult to find this place at night
the people in the reception do not even speak english. this was one of the big problems i had to encounter. how do thet manage to understand i couldnt get it.
Rent a room is a good idea for long stay, the room cost RMB550 per month, you need to pay deposit for 3 months. This is an info I discovered at a residential area, the owner pasted a notice on the wall "Room available RMB550 per month", is inside the city centre, good eh.
You need to buy a mattress, blanket, etc.
Cheapest room to stay inside Guangzhou city centre is around RMB120 for 2 persons with bathroom attach A/C (tips of september 2006). I got this info from 3 different taxi drivers.
The luxury 5 star ones, the China Hotel, cost RMB500 ++ per night.
The room that we had was very big, at least 30 m2, big bathroom and the standard was quite ok. The hotel is very central in the city, even though you have to take taxi to the tourist spots. It is located ca 2,5 km from the shopping street Beijing Lu.
The weekend we were there, we paid quite a lot for the rooms, around 750 RMB a night, but that was because of the trade fair that is arranged in April and October. Normaly the room would have costed us ca. 450 RMB a night.
The only bad thing about the hotel is the cafeteria. It has chinese standard. That means very dirty, and not european hygenic standards. But the food tastes quite ok.
Big rooms, quite cheap from a norwegian point of view.
Non-5 Star hotels can be found at many locations in city center, the ones I stayed cost RMB130 (3 beds with bath room attached, AC, clean), nearby main railways station also nearby San-Yuan-Li. This is the area that you can see many many African and Middle-East traders.
Low cost hotels = RMB120-140 per double bedroom. (lowest price)
Mid range hotels = RMB250-400
The hotel is a two star hotel, very clean and friendly staff.. The location is perfect, very easy to get anywhere.. metro station is just 50mts away! Eateries and shops not far..We was there for the Autumn Canton Fair 2006.. prices are higher but spaces were available.. recommendable to get the twin rooms on building B. They are more spacious for the same price.. with bathtub etc.
