First time going Guangzhou!!

by liyun86

Hello!
I will be travelling around GZ alone and I need some help!
I have no idea if those places listed below are near one another and whether it's travel efficient. I'm a preschool teacher so I am interested in buying teaching materials as well! Please do suggest if there are places that sells!

I will be taking the train from HK to GZ. Will be in GZ from 13th May (morning) and leaving on 17th May (morning).

Please advise!

1) Zhuang Yuan Fang 状元坊
2) Beijing Lu Pedestrian Street (北京路步行街 běi-jīng-lù)
3) Mayflower Plaza (五月花广场 wǔ-yuè-huā-guǎng-chǎng)
4) Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Shopping Street (上下九街)
5) Tee Mall (天河城 tiān-hé-chéng)
6) Hui Mei fashion wholesale market
7) Haizhu Guang Chang: 海珠广场
8) Yide Lu Toy Market

When you are shopping in GZ, I am sure that you will find many stationary shops that sell paper and pens and of course school material. i do not think you have to look very far when you go out shopping as I have seen school stuff everywhere. have fun and why stay there so short of time? Either way enjoy yourself in china.

cheers Tommy x

My suggestion to you is to use google maps. Put in the addresses and you will see what you need to know.

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

Shamian Daijie Park.

by Guantanamera

Shamian Daijie, meaning Shamian central avenue, is a two lane street that runs across the middle of Shamian Island, separated by lush gardens and park area... The atmosphere is quiet and peaceful, with lots of flowers, plants and big trees welcoming you as you stroll along... Sometimes you'll see people playing badminton, or rollerblading, or kids playing games...

The best way to travel to...

by MJL

The best way to travel to Guangzhou is by an airplane or by train from Hongkong. I myself used Thai Airways flight from Bangkok.

Now a very important warning:

ALWAYS RECONFIRM YOUR DOMESTIC (and Chines carriers' international) FLIGHTS ! If you are going to meet a local guide, she/he usually asks to see tickets and she/he will reconfirm them. However if you are travelling alone without local guide reconfirm tickets at least 2-3 days before flight. Use airline's ticket office or ticket office in your hotel.

I have made several domestic flights in China and every time at least one flight have been changed, cancelled etc. During my last trip flight from Guilin to Kunming was cancelled same morning and I was transferred to another flight.
Use a taxi or if you'll stay city centre walking is a quite nice way to see different places. A good city map is very useful.

Xiangjiang Wildlife World

by xiquinho

Xiangjiang Wildlife World is a lively place in Panyu featuring over 10,000 animals in 300 species from all over the world. Many of them are unseen before in China. The Wildlife World is divided into a Ride-and-See Area and a Walk-for-Leisure Area. Here, visitors may stroll into different ecological environments to take a closer look at animals in the wild nature.
