Tianhe District

by jjosef

Hey, i´m travelling to Guangzhou for Canton Fair for the first time.
I think i am staying at Clarion Star Hotel, NO.89 Lin He Xi Lu, Tianhe District. They told me it is not far from Pazhou Complex and that it is a good district. Is that true? Is this hotel well located?
I want to be able to walk from the hotel to go to a restaurant, pub, whatever, so i would like to know if this hotel has a good location.
Thanks for some help!

Tianhe is a very nice area in GZ where most of the fine shopping can be found. You'll find plenty of pubs and restaurants there and the location is very convenient but it's not very close to the fair venue. However, transport is always good to the complex.

Hi,

That will be fine.Taxi is necessary for a stranger in this city.

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

Live Music Club

by Sobe-A-Rush about Tang Club

This is a fun club, not really much of a dance club but there is a smaller dance floor with people always on it. Depending on where your table is there is a minimum you must spend per person. 500rmb in front of the dance floor and 600rmb one level higher by the bar, i am not sure about the prices higher up, there are 2 more levels. I dont think it gets much more than that. There is also a live band every night playing from 9:45pm, they play for 30 mins then take about 15-20 minute break. I am not sure where the band is from but there are 2 chinese people in the band and aswell 3 black people (2 girls, 1 female) They play some older hits and a few newer songs aswell. Oh and i am not quite sure how much you have to spend but after a few drinks and a bottle of JW, they were bringing us Heineken on the house, i believe it is normal as long as you spend a certain amount of money. Casual is okay, its more of the classier bars in GZ but as long as you look on the better side of the table then its all okay.

Pearl River

by Willettsworld

The Pearl River, or Zhu Jiang as it's known in Chinese, is China's third longest river at about 2,200km. It flows into the South China Sea further downstream from Guangzhou between Hong Kong and Macau. The river is extremely important for Guangzhou as it's used for trade as well as for shipbuilding yards. The riverside walk on the northern bank is lovely as you pass by several colonial buildings. It is also possible to take a cruise on the river with boats leaving from the Tianzi Pier just east of the People's Bridge near Shamian Island.

Guangzhou City Museum

by Willettsworld

The Guangzhou City Museum, opened in 1928, is housed in the Zhenhai Tower within Yuexiu Park. The museum housing relics and documents showing Guangzhou's history over 2,000 years such as various pots and vases, figurines, pottery houses, a bronze water-dropping clock that dates back to the Yuan dynasty, ceramics and models of the city. The views from the top of the tower are good over the city.
