Guangzhou vs Yiwu

by amlysandr

I run a small company and I am thinking of coming to China for a business trip.
I contact you, to ask for some help.
I have heard about Yiwu and Guangzhou wholesales markets.
I know quit a lot of things about the way that wholesales market works in Yiwu, but I don’t know much about the Guangzhou wholesales market, how it works and if it is cheaper than Yiwu.
I want to come there and buy 300 to 400 different items (mostly commodities) 50 to 100 cartons from each item, load them in the containers and export them.
I know for sure that I will need the help of a local agent.
Please let me know if you know anything about how the two markets work and which is the best in my case.
Thank you in advance

Travel Tips for Guangzhou

Guangzhou has a few beautiful...

by zqboy

Guangzhou has a few beautiful and legendary nick names, Huacheng (the Flower City), Yangcheng (the Goat City) and Suicheng (the Rice-ear City).
Guangzhou is a civilized ancient city. It is 2,100 years old, the same ages as the world-renowned ancient cultural city Rome of Italy. A modern city in China, Guangzhou is the political, economic, educational, cultural as well as scientific and technological center in South China. It is also a tourist city.

Being a big city, Guangzhou totals 7475 square kilometers with a population of some 6.56 million. Under its administration are four county-level cities of Huadu, Conghua, Zengcheng and Panyu and eight districts: Yuexiu, Dongshan, Haizhu, Litchi, Tianhe, Baiyun, Fangcun and Whampu. It is a well-known hometown of the overseas Chinese. About 500,000 countrymen from here are residing in some 90 countries and regions abroad.

Guangzhou is situated in the south of China with the Baiyun Hill in the north and the Zhujiang (the Pearl River) Delta Plain in front, Three rivers, the Dongjiang, Xijiang and Beijiang converge here. The Zhujiang passes through the city. With rivers and mountains, its geological location is very advantageous. Guangzhou is one of the 24 cities which are the first to have been announced as famous cities of historic and cultural interest in China.
The history of 2,200 years has left behind many places of historic interest and scenic beauty. They are vivid witness of past brilliance of Guangzhou.

As early as in the 9th century B.C, together with the Chu people on the middle reaches of the Yangtse River, people there built Chuting, then they established Nanhai Prefecture in the Qin Dynasty, and Nanyue Kingdom in the Western Han Dynasty.¡. Guangzhou is the starting point of the Silk Road on the Sea which links China with the Arabian and Western countries in trading. Before the Qing Dynasty, Guangzhou was China's only foreign trade port at sea. She has the longest history among the international trade port cities in the world. Silk, porcelain and tea are the three main foreign trade commodities in Guangzhou in ancient times.

Guangzhou is also the hotbed of modern Chinese democratic revolution and cradle of modern civilization.

Arriving And Leaving By Train

by joecooper

If you are coming from Hong Kong or Shenzhen, you should use the Kowloon-Canton Railway (KCR), the fastest train in China. You will arrive at East Train Station where you can buy tickets for onward travel but only catch trains back to Hong Kong. The main train station is situated to the west, North of the city centre.

Chen Family Temple

Brilliant display of Chinese arts in this large, detail-rich temple. The roof contains scenes from the epic 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms' but there is much more and even a museum and excellent gift shop.

Journey

"China Southern Airline"

This was the plane I took from Shanghai (PVG) to Guangzhou. It was a Boeing 777, very comfortable. There are over 10 flights flying from PVG to Guangzhou every day. Even though I flied on the national holiday, I was so surprised that the flight was still pretty empty. I loved it as I could own the whole row!!

"Guangzhou White Cloud Airport"

Here I arrived in Guangzhou. The airport in Guangzhou isn't very big but I heard a new and big one is being built. There are only two terminals - one domestic and the other international. So if you have someone to pick you in the airport, no worries mate. It is pretty easy to find your friends at the terminals.

"Pearl River"

The first evening after I arrived, I couldn't wait to take a walk by the pearl river. The night scene was gorgeous. That's something you can't miss!

"Foooooooooooood"

Cantonese consider food more important than anything. They don't need to wear nice clothes, but they need to eat good food. Everywhere in Guangzhou you can enjoy all kinds of food. Nah, that's another thing you can't miss!!

"Go Shopping!"

Everything's so cheap in Guangzhou. Get your purse ready and GO!

"See you Guangzhou!"

Flied with China Southern again, still not a full flight but very comfortable.
