Peace.
by Guantanamera
Even a casual observer of Asia will notice the way that Asian people, especially Chinese and Japanese, like to flash the peace sign during photo opportunities, just as you see in the photo here of a couple of Cantonese friends in Guangzhou... When you're in Asia, or anywhere for that matter, don't forget to promote this recognizable international symbol of love, neutrality and holistic solidarity...!
Korean Food! My fav cusine.
by jackiesg about JIN GANG YUAN Korea Restaurant ½ð ¸Õ Ô·
From a food review recommended in a book, I tried this JIN GANG YUEN Korea restaurant. Tasted quite authenic based on my standard and it's also a place visited by many koreans. Nice korean settings, good service and at a reasonable price. Like any proper korean restaurant, they serve 6 small dishes of appetizers. I love the (appetizer) minced meat served on a clam shell most although I still can't figure out what meat I'm eating. But sadly, their appetizers are not free flow, not like in S'pore where I can ask for refill countless times! Haha!
In the picture, the dish on the left is called the spicy fried rice cakes ( À± ³´ Äê ¸â ), nice! It was not as spicy as I thought it will, it comes with a tinge of sweetness, sweet and spicy, yummy. The rice cake is stir fry with mushrooms and pieces of beef. The dish on the right is hot plate beef burgers.
They also serve set meals (main dish with rice and soup and dessert) which will cost slightly cheaper. Of course that would be the BBQ beef or the hotplate beef. You can BBQ them yourself on the stove on your table or you can have the waitress to BBQ them for you at another table (some people don't like the BBQ smoke and so they will ask the waitress to do it for them).
Guangzhou Orchid Garden music.
by Guantanamera
One note about the sounds of the garden: there is an extensive speaker system arranged throughout the garden which constantly plays the same classical Chinese music piece over and over again... I would like to take over their sound system, just for one day, and play whatever I choose... Blast some Vivaldi, Natacha Atlas, Carmina Burana, or even Diamanda Galas out there! The place would totally rock!
