Jiangmen - Last Visit in October 2003
I came here on a short 2-day tour around the Pearl River Delta, originating from Hong Kong. Jiangmen's main attractions is this place, Birds' Paradise. It is really located in the adjacent city of Xinhui. 10,000 birds congregate in this 380 year old banyan tree. You can take an old-style fishing boat and observe it in more detail.
Most of the birds are in action during the evening hours, and thus I never saw the majority of the birds within the confines of this tree.
Here is a shot of the city of Jiangmen from one of the many hills that dot this area. This location is called Baishuidai Tourist Holidaying Area. Many trails dot this area for hikers.
This is some information of a Ming Dynasty poet, Chen Baisha.
Along this side of the Pearl River Delta (west side), I noted that there are many motorcycles and mopeds on the streets. There are only a few bicycles observed in this area of China, which was synonomous with China.
