Regency Shantou - Old but decent
The regency hotel is somewhat old compared to the new Meritus.
However, the hotel is larger than the Meritus, and likewise the rooms are also bigger.
Despite its age, the hotel is well maintained, and it has retained its glamour.
Nevertheless, the rooms are slightly outdated, and not quite as good as the Meritus'.
There is an outdoor swimming pool - the only decent one in Shantou. The gym is outdated however.
Location is a little far from downtown shantou, but if you choose to only stay in your hotel, this will not a problem.
There is a bowling alley, pool tables, and an empty bar to keep you entertained.
The western restaurant is not too bad.
An excellent japanese restaurant , though over priced can be found, aswell as a pretty decent chinese restaurant.
There is also a food court serving several different chinese cuisines found throughout china - sounds greater than it is - and it is slightly over priced.
If the room rates are the same, i would choose the Meritus, but if you get a better deal , then the Regency is more than adequate.
