No Man's Land
by RoyJava
Used by soldiers the term "No Man's Land" originally got out of war time. It described some land area between 2 opposing positions.
For now "No Man's Land" is the land area between 2 borderlands, too. Usually it is just a few metres, though can be also kilometres long. Like between Shenzhen and Hongkong, or Zhuhai and Macau ...
My idea of "No Man's Land" used to be an area of briny, brackish ground where people did not dare to walk.
Out of the hotel window we could see the "No Man's Land" of Shenzhen and Hongkong. Some gorgeous green land ... just beautiful!
Only to be seen by people travelling out of Hongkong, or to Hongkong
In a few years there will be no border anymore here ...

China Visa

If you travel from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, take the KCR to Lo Wu station (the last stop), where the border of HK and Shenzen is. Get off the train, you will go through immigration to exit HK then pass thru a bridge that will take you to Shenzen. When you get to the other side, before reaching the Shenzen immigration and right across the Duty Free look out for the sign that says Visa section (or something similar) at the left side. You will go up and get your visa there. It takes about 10-15 minutes for the whole process.
The visa fee varie for countries (they have a list of fee over there). Some said HK$150 for non-US citizens, however, my Dutch (from Holland) were charged HK$450. So, better check what rate your country fit into.
+++ UK/USA passport holder cannot get visas at the Lo Wu border since August 2004 +++
SHENZHEN - to a small village to a major city
by FrenchJulien
Ok, I don't begin with a famous monument of this asia city, but it gives you just an image of what you can see in China.
shenzhen began to be a major city in the beginning of the 80's.
before it was a fishmen village of 20 000 inhabitants, no more.
Now we can say, it's bigger than Paris !!! (1 500 000 in, 7 300 000 around)
located next to Hong Kong in the south of China, it appears to be the main city of electronic & computer commercial place.
"Shenzhen broadcoasting center building"
it is the place in the center of the town to buy all computer components
the tower regroups hundred of computer shops.

"Dowtown hotel"
The Pavilion Hotel is in a shopping district and there is ot much else for miles. It was fun to look and haggle but I was hoping for a variety of activities. I did find a sculpture park. it was huge and interesting. I should have looked a little longer for a better place, but I like to get away from the tourist areas. Hong kong was cool, but I didnt stay there but 1 day. It can be expesive so I went into Shenzhen.
A lot of the sculpture was very beautiful
