Great Hotel
After staying several places in ShenZhen, this hotel was a breath of fresh air. Incredibly helpful staff. If you do not speak the language, choose this or Shan gri LA, although Shan gri La will be more expensive. It has all your basic amenities, pool gym, business center etc. Right near main shopping area, and the only ATM near the mall and train station. You will find yourself walking to this hotel everyday anyway. If you do not want to go through the craziness of customs to leave back to hong kong or the airport, they will arrange a car for you. Its about $130, but so wonderful. You do not go through customs or immigration, you just stop at a booth, they look at your passport and wave you by. If you have ever traveled through the border in China, it is crazy. Especially with luggage. The concierge is great but the bellmen are as well. They tell you all of the local restaurants, they will even walk you there.
Unique Quality: I booked my room the day of, at the desk. It cost me about $160. I just booked a room there for next week online, and it was $60 a night for the same room. So booke ahead of time! The Shan Gri La is also wonderful, but really only if money is not an issue. This is China! You can have an amazing meal for five dollars. The food at the ShanGrila is more expensive than New York City at times.

I will be going to Shenzhen with my hub & 2 kids (aged 10 & 6 yrs old) for shopping & will be staying there for 1 night. I'm choosing among the following:
a) Century Plaza Hotel; and
b) Sunshine Hotel.
Can you recommend which of the above would be the best choice or any other hotel (preferably close to shops & restuarants)? Hope anyone in this forum can help. Thanks!

You can choose Century Plaza Hotel,but if you are going to shopping, i don't think it is the best choice. You can choose HUAQIANG HOTEL or DIFU HOTEL, or those hotels nearby HUAQIANGBEI commercial centres, where you can find you all you want
