Calculator

You must, must, must bring a calculator when you're planning to shop at Shenzhen. Chinese people there don't know how to speak/understand English and you would need to calculator to ask for prices and for haggling. I saw a nice travel khaki pants at one of Shenzhen's shops. I saw an 8 on the tag price. I thought that means 8RMB so I asked the saleslady if 8RMB is the price. I can't speak chinese so i was pointing the 8 and the pants. She keeps on telling me something in Chinese and nodding at the same time so I thought the price is really 8RMB but when I gave her the calculator to punch in the price it was only then that i understood that the 8 in the tag price is the % discount of the item.
new mall coco park
by zephyrgurl108 about coco park
there's a new mall in town called coco park. it's huge, it's got modern architecture and a big space in the central area where there's always somekind of event happening.
some of the stores aren't opened yet. and at first it's difficult to get around. it's floor layout is not that of a typical mall where you just go straight, up or down. it has a U shaped floor layout. most clothing shops open now are chinese brands. however there is a nike, adidas, reebok, puma, and other sportsswear stores.i like the coffeeshops though because they have outdoor seatings. anything, for there all kinds of shops - jusco is soon to open (as of date of writing) famous grocery, cinema, lots of restaurants - papa johns, watami, foccacino italian restaurant, lots of sportswear shops - nike, adidas, reebok, fila, puma, etc.

What is this crap Shen ZHen and Guangzhou is not good. Man, these cities have a lot of history. My phrase of my profile says, " Have an open Mind!!" This is it.
My condo is very nice and comfortable. The people could not be nicer. I drink beer everyday down stairs where the guard shack is. THe little villiage store there. The wife gets mad at the husband because she though he drank up the profit of the store. Am out comes my money and he is saved.
Nice people here in SHen Zhen!!

"Winter in Shenzhen"
I have been to Shenzhen I think three times, but never more than 24 hours. My most memorable trip was in January 2007 when I stayed there overnight on a Friday. My general impression is that the financial district is like all other financial districts around the world - dead at night. But about 2km away from there are many lively alleys and nightmarkets. People stay up very late in Shenzhen, with many shops open well past midnight and some restaurants open all night. Shenzhen has some expensive taxis (flagfall at night is RMB16.1), but prices are about 1/2 of what you pay in neighboring Hong Kong for identical items. Shenzhen, like much of Southern China, is an assault on the senses. You will hear, smell, and see things in a concentrated potpourri.
