Deep Bay bridge on western corridor look closer from your place, or take ferry to SZ

Given that you live in the new territories you can catch the MTR to Lo Wu station and cross the border there. Outside on the China side there is a shuttle bus from the Luohu bus Depot to the Shenzhen Airport. You need to go down to the lower level of the bus depot and the number is K568: it's a small mini van about 20 seater, costs Y20 yuan and leaves every twenty minutes and takes 40mins to an hour depending on traffic. Allow an hour to be safe.

The Lo Wu border crossing sounds reasonable given that you're in the New Territories, but if you have a lot of luggage and will be travelling during a busy time then it might be a bit troublesome. How much luggage do you have and what time is your flight?

Another option - take the train from Tsuen Wan and change to the Tuan Mun line at Mei Foo. Get off at Yuen Long and get a bus across the Western Corridor bridge. There are express airport buses from there.
Maybe you could also contact the cross border coach companies and see if any routes go through Tsuen Man. I didn't use them when I was there as I took a taxi from the Western Corridor to Kowloon most of the time but that cost HKD400.
The easiest, rather than cheapest, would be to simply get a taxi to the western corridor checkpoint and then get a #8 express bus from there.

Travel Tips for Shenzhen

Money Matters

by arni_ph075

Shenzhen currency is Renminbi (RMB). It is also referred to as YUAN.

Prevailing exchange rate is:
1 US Dollar = 8.29 Chinese Yuan Renminbi

Around Shenzhen Hongkong Dollars (HK$) is widely accepted. Most shop keepers like in Lo Wu preferred HK$ on payments.

There are a lot of counterfeit yuan, thus its highly recommended to change money on banks, good exchange rate too, there are a lot of banks in Shenzhen its open even on Saturday.
Just show your passport if changing money at the bank. They only copy the passport #. So if you memorize your passport #, no need to show actual passport. It works for us:-)

Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and establishments. Though on taxis and entrance fees at theme parks, credit card is not accepted.

Great Xin Jiang food with live dance entertainment

Don't miss the show every evening at about 8 PM.

The stage background has changed. Mao is no longer watching over the performances. Try the naan, roast bun with mutton filling, home made yogurt (I like it without sugar), and any of the mutton skewers with typical xinjiang spices. The smoked horse sausage is pretty good too. I also recommend the xinjiang classic: da pan ji (大盘鸡) - big plate of chicken, with potatoes, spices, lotsa garlic and wide noodles.

Let your shoes be fixed on the streets.

by Alain_Smeets

In Shajin town, you find it all. In the evenings the local karaoke bars open on the street, or there are lots of people standing outside to watch to a TV.

But also on the markets, you can see the people do lot's of things, like fixing shoes.

Shenzhen -Gateway to China

by albaaust

Shenzhen for us was just a transit area for travel to other parts of China. It is cheaper to fly via Shenzhen rather than Hong Kong. Eg flight from Guilin to Hong Kong 1800 Yuan Guilin to Shenzhen 800 Yuan.
