Is shopping cheaper in shenzen or Kuala Lumpur

by aidataffa

Hi

I am going to KL and wanted to know if shopping is cheaper in KL or Shenzen. I have been to Guangzhou and Hong Kong so I know the prices. We are going in September.

Thanks

I m going with a shenzen local, but will so that is why I was wondering. Is he quality better in KL? They tell me KL is more expensive now?

Mate, I am from Australia have been to both places, Shenzhen is much better, better quality but you have to barter real hard and walk away if you don't get your price. Do the research to check prices then don't alter your price. Good luck, we are going back in March 2010 to Shenzhen, 4th time.

Travel Tips for Shenzhen

Miss?! Xiaojie?! NONONO!!!

by THLIN

If you are a Mandarin speaker, you might have known that xiao-jie (Miss) is a proper way to call a young lady, but NOT in China. Shenzhen is an open-minded city with the influence from Hong Kong, still need to be aware to call a young lady xiao-jie. If you are in a restaurant, just call waitress Fu-wu-yuan and it's for both male and female.
Xiao-jie in China means whore or female involves in certain service industry. It's VERY offensive to call.

Taxi

by Edy8

On the whole, taxi-drivers are quiet, friendly and honest except some unscrupulous ones. They tend to issue receipts for the trips at our destination and tend to travel by shortest routes. But at Shenzhen’s Port area, we were shocked when almost all the taxi-drivers, queuing up for passengers told us that they didn’t know how to go to our 3-star hotel. How could that be? We finally realized that the location of the hotel was too near and to avoid ferrying us, they told us they didn’t know how to get there which is a good excuse. ‘Complain to the authority’ ‘See the telephone number, call them’. Should we?

wild west dining

by zephyrgurl108 about mustang sally chuckwagon

the restaurant's food is delish. at least, the vegetarian entrees. my first time in the resto, we ordered vegetarian spaghetti and baked cheese. the serving is big, thus it's a little expensive than usual but still affordable.
it has a wild west theme with a stage and regular live band music, several billiard tables and a foozball.
service is prompt and most waitresses speak english. the baked cheese!~ it's just yummy!

snow slide fun

by zephyrgurl108

snow in shenzhen? yes! skiers and snow fan will have a fun time in window of the world's snow dome. for RMB80, u can ski down the slopes for an hour or slide down using (no not sleighs) but rubber tubes for only RMB10.
of course u still have to pay the gate fee of RMB120 to get into this place. it's fun, fun fun.

What a Difference!

"Border Town"

This town is the first city you enter in China when you leave Hong Kong. It is a transportation hub that is very crowded with people!!! What an experience!!!

My son and I were so tired when we arrived here! Our bus took us from Hong Kong airport just over the border, and then just dropped us off in the street! The driver didn't speak English, and we couldn't speak Chinese at all! We had to catch another bus to Xiamen, but didn't know where we were supposed to go, so it was pretty scary!
