Bird Watching in Shen Zhen
by bpacker
The best place to do a bird watching here is at the mangrove reserve in Futian District near Shenzhen Bay. During migration season, more than 100,000, or a total of 194 species can be seen here.
How to go there: Take the ShenZhen Metro and get off at Qiao Cheng Dong stop, take exit “A”, then walk towards west for 2 minutes, turn right when seeing a petrol station and “Konka” Group sign, keep straight on for 5 minutes will hit a T junction, then keep left and follow the En Ping Street all the way through for 3-4 minutes, You will see an open car park and the hostel is next to it. Mangrove Nature Reserve (bird watching) at sea front and botanic garden are about half an hour (walking) away from the hostel.
Cheapest Air Ticket

I online purchase www.airasia.com from Shenzhen to Kuala Lumpur at Malaysian RInggit 750 each person (all taxes included), around US$200, 2 ways (return).
This low cost airline did not provided free meals!
I had to buy a rice/chicken (Malaysian Nasi Lemak) and a cup of super weird taste creamy tea (Malaysian Teh-tarik), it taste like wood. And I got vomit 10 minutes later, probably caused by the weird taste or probably they sold me the one expired.
The reason I eat the Nasi Lemak was because I saw the beautiful menu, so nicely printed, a fresh green banana leaf with white rice on it with curries plus sliced cucumber, wow! I paid 7 Ringgit and later what I ate was a aluminum foil made kind of plate with rice and some unappealing looked curries, with no cucumber at all.
Do not try carry a bottle of water into the plane, the x-ray machine can see through your handbag, they want you to throw into the dustbin immediately. (I saw tons of water bottle in it, all contributed by passengers)

Got to run
This plane is free seat. You must run if you scare. I saw most passengers run for good seat. Malaysian must run. Malaysia Boleh!

The rest are OK, so far so good.

relax, have a cupping
by zephyrgurl108
Where else can you get authentic TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) but in China? There's a big TCM hospital in SZ and if you're feeling a little weary from all that travelling, drop in for an hour session of cupping (Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) therapy involving the placement of glass, plastic, or bamboo cups on the skin with a vacuum. The therapy is used to relieve what is called "stagnation" in TCM terms, and is used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis. Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain. Its advocates claim it has other applications as well. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupping). I felt good after doing, so go ahead and try. It doesn't hurt at all.
China's shopping city
by shobhanaj
Shenzhen is a city most people in Hong Kong go to for two reasons. One is to shop, the other is to extend their visa. Shenzhen is a place to visit if you want cheap Chinese goods. It is also a place for Louis Vitton bags among other big brand names. I've heard stories about how they show you catalogues and once after you've made your selection they ask you to meet them in the bathroom with cash ready. They meet you there with the bag you want, you pay them and then they disappear. Just like that!
As a result, most tourists don't end up going more than a few hundred meters from the immigration point. The change from Hong Kong is felt instantly. Suddenly, all the sign boards are only in Chinese and the people have smiles on their faces. The Mainlanders are so much more friendlier than the people in Hong Kong. One of the attractions of Shenzhen is their Windows of the world. Since many cannot travel outside China, the Government bought the world to them. So you have replicas of many famous monuments and even of cities. All in all a couple of days there helps you get a feel of China.
