Quesitions about Shen zhen

by jodizzz

Hi All,

We will be going to ShenZhen for day trip from Hong Kong.

1) So we will take a MTR to Lo Wu and cross border from there. Immediately we should see Shenzhen's Line 1 Luo Hu and nearby there is Luohu Commercial City where we can shop. Is this correct?

2) Some of us wants to go for a massage instead of shopping. I think we should be going to Queen Spa. How do we go there from Luo hu?

3) Is Happy Valley worth visitng?

Luohu and Lowu are the same place, more or less. You just walk across the bridge into China, and it is well signposted to metro, bus station, taxi etc. Kind of like three sides to a square, one one side is the railway station, with metro underneath, opposite is the shopping centre, with bus station underneath. Across one end is the border, built to resemble a classical Chinese watchtower. At the fourth side are a few hotels whose names I forget.

I can't help you with the spa - not my bag - but if you have its name in Chinese, any taxi will take you there. Taxis are fairly cheap in China, and no tipping.

Happy Valley is a big entertainment park like Disney. It has several big rides, plenty to do, including a pool with waves. You'd need at least 6 hours there. In the same general location is Window on the World, which is a world miniature. More for seeing than doing, there's a lot of walking.
Metro for both is Window of the world, at the far end of line 1 from Luohu.

Also nearby is a place called Splendid China, which again is a minature park, but China only. Also a lot of walking. Metro is stop before WoW, called huaqiaocheng (or maybe huachengqiao, I forget).

Queens Spa is in ChunFengLu (Say Chun Fung Lew) near McDonalds (mac a de) and I believe it is a very large place although I havent been there myself as I prefer a straight massage to the bath etc. I never ent to Happy Valley but I found the Splendid China place was good.

Thinking about it I seem to remember there is a shuttle bus from LuoHu to Queens Spa but with the economic downturn I am not sure of its status.

Travel Tips for Shenzhen

Regular Customers

by RoyJava

It has to be said! In spite of all the bad reports and messages about the Shenzhen shopping district LuoHu/Lo Wu there is some good, too.

When dealing in advanced order there are some wonderful retail shops, too! Working with design clothes for casino dancers my brother found someone who has good products and stuff in his shop in Shenzhen. He became a regular costumer ... for several years already.

They created a wonderful understanding and some good business. And indeed ... the shop has some great glitter and glamour products, and whatever you design in your mind they will produce. In LuoHu Shenzhen ...

Taxi's

by Lizette102

Always make sure you have the place you are going to written on a piece of paper in CHINESE, also always keep a card or note with your hotel name (also in chinese) with you, so that if you get lost you can just jump in a taxi.

no smoking, no alcohol, no meat

by zephyrgurl108 about green life

A vegetarian's haven. Green Life is a lovely new all vegetarian restaurant where dishes are NOT oily, unlike most vegetarian Chinese restaurant offer. Lots of dishes to choose from, big space with private rooms and a corner where you could buy some vegetarian food and drinks and organic and healthy products. Chicken drumsticks and spicy tofu

relax in litchi park

by zephyrgurl108

So-called for its many Litchi trees, Litchi Park offers a respite from the stresses of the urban jungle. The park, located in Futian District, features many pavillions and landscaped gardens. It's relaxing, it's free and it's not a bad way to spend an afternoon. In one part of the park, there is a "performance" area where amateur and some professional musicians play for everyone to hear. It is not uncommon to see tai chi groups doing their exercise in this park too.

shenzhen adventures

"happy kingdom"

stuck in china and unable to go home to PI for the 5 day mid autumn holiday, me and other unfortunate individuals decided to do the tourist thingy. go to shenzhen's happy kingdom theme park. entrance fee is RMB120. happy kingdom is located along Shennan Road, Overseas Chinese Town,, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. Do not, i repeat, DO NOT go there during a holiday. we waited in line for FIVE HOURS just to get to the inverted roller coaster ride. for more pictures, pls check out my travelogue.
p.s. an inverted roller coaster means a coaster that hangs beneath the tracks, allowing the legs of the rider to hang beneath the seat and swing with the motion of the ride. weeee

"mt. wutong climb"

and just when i thought i wouldn't do anything crazier than wait for five hours for a roller coaster ride, i go on an indiana jones type of trekking. mt. wutong is the highest peak in shenzhen. we started hiking 830 am up the rocky river, stopped for an hour lunch break at 12 noon and continued going down very steep slopes on the other side of the mountain. by 4 PM, we finished the trail and reached the hong fa temple at the foot of the mountain. i offered prayers and incense to Buddha and prayed that I would get enlightened and stop doing these crazy things.
for more photos, pls check out my travelogue.

"window of the world"

one fine sunny day, the clouds went away and the pinoy gang decided to travel around the world in 7 hours..
window of the world is one of the many theme parks located in overseas chinese town in shenzhen. the park features replicas of the world's most famous landmarks from the eiffel tower to the pyramids. be sure to wear comfy shoes because youre in for a LOT of walking.
