RMB - YUAN
by RoyJava
Maybe it is some confusing but the official currency in Shenzhen and China is RMB.
That is the Ren Min Bi, known as the "People's Money" or "People's Currency".
The base unit for the RMB is the YUAN or the YUAN Dollar ...
... in China you have next to the YUAN Dollar the currency of Fen cent and Jiao dime, too.
... still confusing huh?
Well, I mostly heard the costs in YUAN's and got my Foreign Currency Change in ... YUAN'S.
1 EUR = 10,3314 CNY
1 Chinese yuan = 0.139187 U.S. dollars
With the ferry from Hong Kong to Shenzhen
by Alain_Smeets
This is the most expensive way of travelling to Shenzhen, but it’s also the most comfortable way of getting there. Why well when you travelled by ferry and by train you know what I’m talking about.
The boats have a maximum capacity of 400 passengers and it takes about one hour from HK to Shenzhen. At the customs at the Chinese side, you are only with the people from the boat and things go relatively fast.
In Hong Kong go to the China Ferry Terminal in Canton Road in Kowloon, here you can buy your tickets and it’s also the place where the ferries leave.
The ferry arrives in the Fu Yong Ferry Terminal close to the Shenzhen international airport.
There are 16 trips daily and the sailing time approx. 1 hour. The departures are between 0730 and 1945
It cost approximately 180 HK$ one-way.

Windows on the World
by aukahkay
About 15 minutes by taxi from the main Shenzhen raiway station is Windows on the World (Shijie zhi chuang). Basically it is a collection of miniatures of various landmarks and monuments from all over the world. You have minatures of the Eiffel Tower, Coliseum, Pyramids, and other monuments. There is also a nightly cultural and acrobatic show.
Shenzhen; The New China
by rafighi
"Shenzhen"
As a newly constructed city in the southern part of China, today, shenzhen can be named as one of the most modern cities in the far east. With its many skyscrapers (specially its highest "SEG Plaza") and many hi-tech companies loated in the city, you'll find shenzhen as a symbol of developing China.
A fast visit to Shenzhen
by shivan
In my china trip I made a fast visit to Shenzhen because there were the headquarters of the company who hosted us.
I have not many town's pics, or, better, I can't find them.
I took the one shown above from
shenzhenwindow.net
that is a nice site to surf to know more on what's going on there.
Shenzhen was actually founded in the 80's.
There was only a fishermen village there before, just a few people.
I think location was appropriate for its proximity to Hong Kong, just a few kilometers away. Today Shenzhen counts 7 millions inhabitants and a futuristic architecture of those modern towns that you may found only in southeastern Asia (another example: Kuala Lumpur).
The city itself has been built along the main road, that is called Shennan Road.
This large road is full of traffic especially during the afternoons, it may take a long time to drive from hotels (many of them here, typical of a modern commercial town) to restaurants or were do you want to go.
When you've done here, please proceed to the next step of my China Tour: Xi'An.
