A nice Hotel in Shekou district

I was traveling on business and did not want to spend a lot of money in the two 5 star hotels in the Shekou district. A friend recommended this hotel. The hotel itself is very nice and new. the rooms are big, king sized beds are available, everything is quite good, but the breakfast is just soso. It is a little out of the way, so your taxi driver will not be able to find it too easily unless he is a very local driver. Best to call the hotel and ask.
The hotel is just 3 or 4 blocks from the Sea World complex where there are restaurants serving every style of food imaginable, Mexican, Irish pub, Brazilian and Italian to name a few. The area across form the hotel is a shopping and Chinese restaurant district. The other hotels in this district seem to be in the middle of a red-light district, but this one is not. Big rooms, very comfortable and quiet for a reasonable price, 348 RMB per night, about $50 USD for a solid 3 star hotel!
Shekou's Best Placed Hotel

I was looking for a reasonable hotel that was close to the cruise ship in Sea World Shenzhen. I read both good and bad reviews about the Honlux hotel. As it turned out, it was all good. The room was big and clean. The TV was ok, bathroom was clean and the bed was a little hard, but not too bad. Overall, a good hotel.
Additionally, the internet was good and free. A reasonably good breakfast was included in the room price. Jocation, Location, Location. The hotel is located next to Taizi (Prince) Plaza. The plaza is surrounded by mostly western and gormet restaurants. It is also noted for entertainment. There are live western rock bands in the clubs. This is a very easy place to spend time for western people. When I looked out my window, I could see a Dunkin Donuts below my room, heaven!

Great Brazilian BBQ Restaurant

It seems to be out place but of all places in China Shekou has the most number of all-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ restaurants!
One worth visiting is actually inside the belly of the old MingHua Cruise Ship. It hitted the sandbar which used to be along the shore of Shekou in the 90s and has been beached and left to rust until a real estate group decided to build a park around the old boat in 2003. They also took out most of the ships inside and converted the hold into a restaurant and pub.
The staterooms are now a hotel, worth spending the night there if you are visiting Shekou.

Great place for regular Shekou people, lots of Texas and Oklahoma and other oil workers. It's like a Texas bar, good people, nice and cheap drinks, and great music, that's why it attracts so many people living in Shekou *(shenzhen)* Darts and foosball too!, sports and other interesting stuff on the tv (3 different screens)!.
Definitely check it out!

Shekou to Luohu

Our party of 6 adults 1 child will be arriving via ferry from Macau, which should put us in Shekou? What's the best way to get to Louhu from there? We're staying at Shanshui Trends there.

Chinamonty is probably going to give a better answer here because I think he knows more tricks to getting around Shenzhen than I do, but what I would do is take a taxi from the ferry terminal (there will be several waiting as you walk out) to Windows of the World (shijie zhi chuang) metro station, which is right in front of the entrance to Windows of the World. Try to get the driver to turn on the meter if you can (good luck). From there ride all the way to the end of the line, which is the Luohu station. Should be a short taxi ride from there.

Yes it will put you at Shekou port (Shekou Gang)
seven people makes it a little trickier as you need two taxis but it depends a bit on how much luggage you have and at what time. I would expect two taxis from Shekou all the way to LuoHu will cost RMB200 (USD28) so with two taxis and seven people that works out at less than RMB30 each or USD 4.50. I would recommend that as it a fair distance. You could take a bus but that will be uncomfortable with seven. You will need to print out the name of the hotel in Chinese to show the driver. 广东省深圳市罗湖区沿河南路1098号
Make sure they put the meter on and that you get a Fapiao (fah Peow) which is an invoice in case you have any problems it gives you the taxi registration number.
Pity the metro isn't finished yet. In the future that will be the way to do it.

Gee I wish you could post Chinese characters in these forums!. To print out the address just Google the hotel name and it should come up with Chinese characters somewhere in your results. It will include 1098 near the end of it.

Hi friends...I will fly to shenzhen very soon and would like to get some informations on shuttle buses from shenzhen airport to shekou port as I would be taking ferry from the port to kowloon and such buses is located at what floor of the airport and how much does it cost. Thank you

There will be free shuttle buses going from Shenzhen airport to Shekou port if you're taking those ferries.
