Best Travel Option

by RJK09

Hi

I would like to get from Hong Kong Airport to Shenzhen on Tuesday 31 March - would like to know what the following:

a) best travel route - eg: quickest way & how much?
b) how much does it cost via Taxi and travel time?
c) how much does it cost via Private Car and travel time?

If someone could please come back to me ASAP, that would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Rachael

Sorry, but I don't know where of Shenzhen you want to go. However, you could go to SheKou Nanshan by boat and it will cost about HKD 220 and 30 minutes. If your destination is near LuoHu District, maybe the metro is the best option in case that you know how to change the train. You could always get help from the metro staff. The latter will cost you about HKD 120 but 2 hours or more ...

As far as Shekou to Luohu is concerned, you could take a taxi for RMB 80 and about 1 hour.

Hope it helps.

Here is a link to information on the ferry to Shekou. It is fast and very easy. If I want to go to Louhu, I take the airport train to Kowloon, taxi to the train station and take the train. A good alternative, as stated above, is take the ferry and taxi to wherever you want to go in Shenzhen. Be aware that the ferry does not run very late at night or early in the morning.

If you arriving in HK late at night, I would suggest taking the train in the morning and getting a good nights sleep in Hong Kong.

Several ways, take direct ferry from HK airport to Shekou and then bus or taxi form there, or go by limo and recommended but other posters here. Exit HK airport custom area and you will see counters advertising corss China limo services, all the counters are the same ($150), tell them where you want to go in Shenzhen (only hotel stops no private residence), pay and they will lead you down to the limos (mini-vans). Or you can prebook a private van at a cost of HK$900 per van.

Cheapest, take bus or mini-bus to Shenzhen border crossings then cross on foot and take taxi on the other side.

Even cheaper, take bus to KCR East Rail Sheung Shui station then take KCR to LoWu and crosso on foot.

Travel Tips for Shenzhen

ice skating in mixc

by zephyrgurl108

It may not snow in Shenzhen but this city has ice skating available year round. Thanks to the ice skating rink in posh mall MixC. Prices range from 40 to 60 rmb per hour. if you're a newbie and you dont have your own pair of ice skating shoes, no worry because they're available for rent here.

To the other cities

by asiaminor

Shenzhen is not very well connected to the other major cities neither by bus nor by train. You can catch the trains or buses that comes from Hong Kong and travels to the main cities like Beijing. But if you are planing to go to Sichuan province ,Tibet or any other western parts of the country the best way is taking a 1 hr trip on a fast train to Guangzhou where you can find many transportation options to every part of the country.A trip costs 76 Yuan and you can take the train from Luo Hu train station.

dapeng fortress

by zephyrgurl108

Looking for old China? Visit the Dapeng Fortress in Shenzhen's Longgang District. Built during the Ming Dynasty, fort served as China's military base to resist Japanese pirates in Guangdong. The fort is also historically significant as it is the starting point of the Opium War. Here, you will find mansions of generals, temples and old brick houses. The area has four imposing gates on the north, south, east and west side. If you're coming from the center of Shenzhen, allot a day for this excursion. There is minimal entrance fee of RMB15.
