visa for Shenzhen

by mayt

A friend of mine would like to come to Shenzhen for 3 days only, however, she does not have a visa. Is there somewhere that she can get a visa at the border? I got mine at the Chinese Embassy in our country.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I think you can pick up a visa at the boarder but you'll have to wait an hour or so for it to be processed. I think it might actually be a bit cheaper than picking one up ar the Chinese Embassy back home but I'm not sure by how much. I'm interested in this topic as well so I'm hoping someone who who actuallk knows will answer.

I heard it's about HKD150 at Lo Wu boarder, not very sure. Waiting time range (I heard) from 1hour to 4 hours, depending on the queue and which country you from.

Remember the border visa is only valid within that city. Travelling outside that city is invalid.

Is that so Vincent? How would they know that you did not go to other parts in China, like Guangzhou or Foshan? Is there a government agency or people checking when you go outside Shenzhen? Is there a like checkpoint?

I don't know as I have my visas done right here in HK. However, in Shenzhen, they have an external "checkpoint" which only allows Shenzhen citizens entering the city area unless they have valid papers. Maybe the visa stamp says "Shenzhen only"?
