Appreciate you advise. I actually book a hotel rooms in Shenzen for 5 days and that is where I will leave most of my belonging there and start venture to HK and Macau for a day or two. May ask that;
1. It is advisable to go through Shenzen with both
destination since my base (hotel) are in Shenzen ?
2. Where would be a popular place to shop for PDA while HK
3. What is the contact details for out the various backpackers venue
like the AnneBlack YWCA in HK
4. Pls suggest places to visit for a tourist on free-and
easy trip to HK and Macau.
Thank you very much
Q1:
How long is your entire trip? Are u flying to Shenzhen and then back from Shenzhen? If you are actually booking a good hotel - u can actually request to deposit your belongings in the hotel concierge and come back a few days later to collect it. If you can stay a couple of days in HK / Macau it would help your sightseeing easier - saves time travelling. Besides sometimes the queue at Customs clearance could be long - not viable for you to go to and fro Shenzhen to HK.
From Shenzhen to HK you can take the KCR. It is very easy. Do a search on the internet. From HK to Macau is about 1 hour ferry ride which is very easy.
Q2 and Q3: I am unable to advise. But you can search online using search engine for Q3.
Q4: What are your area of interest? Shopping or sightseeing or both? Is this your first time in HK? I have just returned from HK / Macau (my 3rd time in HK and 2nd time in Macau, been to Shenzhen long time ago but I could not remember the details).
- For HK -
Do note there is 2 parts of HK - Kowloon and HK island.
Do check out the MTR map for a rough idea on HK location for HK attractions.

Kowloon - main area for shopping is Mong Kok and Tsim Tsa Tsui - do not miss the Symphony of Lights at the Tsim Tsa Tsui pier (every 8 pm). This is a very colorful lighting show. You can take a long walk at the Avenue of Stars. I like to stay at the Tsim Tsa Tsui area - travelling around is very convenient.
HK island - mainly office area in Central, but places of attractions are Ocean Park and also The Peak. The Peak - you get to see the HK view - and there is Madame Toussaud's.
Last but not least you might want to check out HK tourism board official website --> http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/index.jsp
Email them for any queries and ask them to mail you some brochures - they are very helpful. You can even ask for bus routes to plan your itenary better.
- For Macau -
Depending on your interest 2D 1N should be sufficient or if you do not have enough time, you can even go for a day trip very early in the morning returning very late at night.
Places of interest - Macau Tower, Ruins of St Paul and Senado Square (for food and shopping). Other than that there are lots of casinos.
