hong kong to zhuhai

by paulineng

I will be in HK on 18th march n leaving for Zhuhai the next day, staying in Paradise Hill Hotel. Please advise the most convenient way to get to Zhuhai n the hotel. Isit advisable to join a local sightseeing tour to see zhuhai or should i take bus no.1. Please recommend good hot spring n spa in Zhuhai, please include their rates.

Most convenient way is by ferry either direct from airport if timings match or by taking train in to Kowloon and then ferry. If you are not familiar with HK then take the train to Central as it is an easy walk from the train to the ferry terminal.
Paradise Hill hotel is in Jida and not very far from the ferry terminal -5 minutes by bus (no25) or by taxi. Perhaps you should get address in Chinese printed out from internet to give taxi driver. Not sure on the hot spring issue. None are in the city area. They are either in the Doumen area or Pingsha (Ocean Springs resort). I have no idea of prices. Sightseeing on the No1 is OK.

I see your visit is already over - however for others I would suggest taxi is the quickest way to the hotel. It should only cost about 20 RMB.

I'd like to hear how your visit went.

i forgot to get Paradise hill resort translated to chinese n had problem w the taxi driver. fortunately i had the resort telephone number n was able to call to get the resort name in chinese. it costs rmb25 by taxi without any hassle. the tout wanted rmb40.
for sightseeing, bus no. 1 but it never seem to arrive after 45 minutes wait so we decided to take the normal bus to Yuanming garden. entrance fee is rmb120 but it's more worth to go b4 11am in order to view all the shows. next door is the massage centre which is very reasonable n good depending on which package u choose.
Bus routes very comprehensive n cheap, flat fee of rmb1.50 to 3.00. many services to jiuzhou port n the border gate

Travel Tips for Zhuhai

And I am back to the seaside!

"The border town"

Zhuhai could be called a city or a town - depending on your perception of what the latter and former are. One million population, majority are Cantonese speaking. It is a pleasant place, with less traffic compare to bigger cities nearby (like Shenzhen or Guangzhou), lots of parks and greenery. Great public transportation system. It is located right next to Macao border and there is a small port that has ferries running to HK and Shenzhen (and some other destinations).
I came to live here after living for 4 years in Beijing. And at first I thought it was boring and small. But day by day I discover new things and meet new people - folks are NICE here! - and I really hope we don't have to move from here.
So, if you are on your way to Macao and you have some time, stop for a day in Zhuhai, take a trip to Gongbei district to see the busy streets filled with vendors and shops, take a walk by the sea in the infamous Lover's Road, cross over to the Island behind Jusco. And just enjoy friendly atmosphere :-)
