Guilin shopping and restaurant zone
The new shopping and restaurant zone in the city centre resembles other places of this kind all over the world. It is elegant, clean, with lots of decorative verdure and lights. It is free of motor traffic.

Hello can any one guide me for a tour package for three nights at Guilin, from travel agents its turning out to be very expensive. We are two adults & a kid. we will be reaching Guilin from Shenzhen on 2'nd july 2010 & will be back to Shenzhen on 5'th July.
I need hotel package and sight seeing package.
Thanks
While in Guilin you must go to Yangshuo even if you spend two nights there. In Yangshuo you can see the magnificent karst mountains, take a trip on the Li River, see some fascinating caves and just soak up the local scene and culture. It is also a good place to buy gifts.
I arrived in Guilin from the overnight train from Guanzhou and went straight to Yangshuo (about 2 hours) In the afternoon you can check out the local scene, go to the caves or the Li River. I suggest a bike ride through the countryside for the next day (how old is your child) and maybe climb Moon Hill. The next morning you can see the caves or the river - whichever you didn't see day one. OR
If you travel back to Guilin the next morning you still have time to see around there.
I agree with the above suggestion and believe it will be cheaper. The hotels are less expensive than Guilin and most of the tours out of Guilin include Yangshuo anyway so why not be right there. Yangshuo is much more stunning than Guilin.

I had 3 cameras with me.
A basic (28 mm) for strangers (if you'd like photos of yourself from the trip); this works best for anyone you can find in the vicinity.
An SLR (25mm - 150 mm) for majority of the shots.
A digital camera for easy uploading & cheaper alternative to trial shots. I had 260 mb of disk space but still not enough!
In addition, for photo taking in caves, please bring along your 35mm camera. Digital camera is a poor substitute for low light condition photography!!! Lots of courage, trust & belief that human nature is kind & good.
Unfortunately, I cannot name this restaurant. Our guide took us to this place - it was right alongside the Li River and it had an outside section.
We ordered the usual local noodles and a vegetable dish but from the start we had trouble! Firstly, there was a smell that turned us off - could have been the local speciality of fermented bean paste or the snake oil - whatever, I had trouble eating it! Secondly, when I went to the toilet I went past rows of cages of snakes, chickens, rabbits, turtles, bats, fish etc all next to each other -predator and prey next to each other waiting to be ordered. Another turn off!!
Lastly, I vomited that night away!!
Stay away!!
From Shan Hu, you can follow the interconnecting waterways and arrive upon nearby Rong Hu, which has many more diversions available... Pictured here, a nice view of Rong Hu around sunset, including the traditional Chinese teng at the lakeside, as well as the classic limestone peaks topography in the far distance... Also very close to this area, you can find an extremely old banyan tree, long revered by the people...
No visit to Guilin would be complete without the Li River cruise to Yangshuo. This trip is 80 km long and takes about seven hours. It may seem a bit long but actually we weren't bored at all. Apart from about an hour spent inside while eating lunch ( its cost was included in the ticket price) we decided to stay on the top deck. The weather was beautiful ( although the typical mist was wrapping the hills) and the scenery was stunning. Along winding Li River we saw bamboo forests, small villages, fishermen in their boats, women doing their washing but above all - the fantastic peaks and rock formations. Our guide pointed at some most beautiful hills and rocks telling us their poetic names, and, surprisingly they seemed to fit perfectly.
Yes, it was a sheer pleasure. So don't hesitate and go on the cruise if you happen to be in Guilin.
