  • Nice stay if you're on a budget

    by

We've stayed at the Guilin Bravo hotel in January, so it was pretty quiet as it wasn't peak tourist season. The location is great as it's within walking distance of the town centre with all the shops, bars, markets and restaurants, but away from all the noise and cars.
I've requested the lake-view room in my booking, which we got and it was well-worth the money - spectacualr view if the lake and mountains! But we didn't get the smoking room we've requested. The room itself was nice and clean enough, but you could tell the carpet was old and the water pressure in the shower wasn't great.
Note that if you want to use the sauna you have to book in advance as we found out too late to our disappointment. The foot massage is nice and you can have it done in the comfort of your room if you want, but we later found out that you can get much better massage for about a third of the price either somewhere in town or in Yangshuo.
The breakfast buffet was great! A really nice wide range of both Western and Chinese food and well-cooked.
Overall, it's a nice hotel if you don't expect too much.
I would not recomment staying in Guilin for more than a couple of days though - go and spend as long as possible in Yangshuo instead!

Unique Quality: Great view of the lake and hills/mountains if you book a lake-view room.
    Really nice breakfast buffet.

    Lovely lakeside location

    by

We had a comfortable room in this pleasant hotel. Buffet breakfast was satisfying, and on the day when it was in the restaurant rather than the ball room, in pleasant surroundings.

Unique Quality: There as a pool, but it wasn't quite warm enough to use, and I'm not sure that I would have wanted to swim in full view of everyone in the foyer!
The lakeside position was good for walks/fresh air but it was a bit of a walk to find an ATM

  • Good Hotel in Good Location

    by

I stayed in the Guilin Bravo Hotel for 4 days in March 2007. I had a Deluxe-Lakeview-Room with balcony.
The room was not big but appropriately sized, clean, quiet, nicely furnished and decorated, and the view over Banyan Lake was very nice. The hotel staff, in particular the concierge, were friendly and very helpful, and communication skills in English are above average compared to other 4star hotels in China.
Free and reliable internet broadband connection.
I liked the location: Close enough (a 10 min walk along the lake) to the centre, but yet quiet.
Summarizing: Good hotel in good location, good value for money, and I would definitely go there again!

    Bravo Hotel

We selected this hotel instead of the more upscale Sheraton. This hotel was bit past its prime, but was serviceable. Our room had a balcony which was a plus, but the room had a leak around the door and the carpet was a bit damp there.

Unique Quality: The big positive factor on this hotel is that it is directly across the street from Banyan lake which has a wonderful walk all around the lake and the adjoining Fir Lake. What a wonderful place to walk!

Nice Highrise Hotel

by dzni about Holiday Inn

It was Holiday Inn - Guilin when I stayed here, but I believe the name and ownership has changed to Guilin Bravo Hotel.
Reasonable pricing... like $70 or something from what I could research on the internet. Quite comfortable hotel, much like you'd find in the U.S. TV, nice beds, etc. There's a lounge and a gift shop, as well as a pool. There are doorbells on the rooms, which is kind of nifty. :-)
