Beautiful spot in Guilin

This was our ChinaSpree hotel for Guilin -- and it was lovely. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, and the rooms were comfortable and quiet. You can walk into town across the canal -- particularly at night when all the lights and market activity is going strong. I don't know what it costs to stay here -- but don't be dismayed if you are on a tour and this is your hotel -- it is very nice. The bar off the lobby is a comfy spot to sit with friends after a busy day, and before you head out just to "see what's what" around town.

I'll need to look up the specifics (address, etc.) but I'm just putting this here so I can upload the photo.

Unique Quality: This is a resort town, and people are here to have fun.

Next to a peaceful lake

Guilin Park Hotel /Guihu Fandian, a 4-star hotel (in 1998, it was a 3-star albeit they themselves would like to say ‘quasi-4-star’).
In June 1998, a double room with a king-size bed was listed RMB 420.

Unique Quality: It has its own outdoor swimming pool. It provides lunch buffet with limited choices of western and Chinese food. We saw tour buses pouring in loads of tourists for lunch.

Rooms are of good sizes with a balcony (ours facing the pool and beyond, the lake).

Within walking distance, we managed to buy some fruit from local market.

The hotel staff are helpful only in certain ways, e.g., they are very good at booking Li River cruise for you, but then knew nothing about the city itself, surprisingly (the girls at the lobby did not seem even from Guilin, instead, from other places).
