Here I saw some real Guilin...
by l_joo
Here I saw some real Guilin Culture. The item at left is actually an 'Electricity-Stealing-Product' on sell by the roadside in Guilin city. I saw 2 peoples selling this product at RMB40 each, they have a meter to show you how it work by cutting down the spinning speed of the meter. So if you have this product plug into any corner of your house then you just have to pay about 5 Dollars per month. Wow! Enjoy Guilin's culture.
Rent a bicycle
by herzog63
Renting a bicycle is a great way to get around Guilin as some of the sights can be quite far from the city center and riding buses isn't everyones cup of tea or riding taxi's for all that matters. I'm not fond of riding taxi's. But if you want to rent a bike you better have (at least from my experience in Guilin) a raincoat (which I didn't have) if you ride a bike for long periods of time without fenders your back will become soaking wet!! haha But bikes are fairly inexpensive to rent by the day...I don't know how much I paid.
Reed Flute Cave
by solopes
After a couple of days listening to the guides attaching names to everything that could be promoted for the tourists, I confess that I was expecting a small cave with a few stalactites seeming... bamboo.
I was positively surprised by the size and beauty of the caves. Of course, each rock and formation won a name and a story, but the cave is very interesting, due to the elaborated game of lights and the contrasts they create.
Situated only 5 km far from Guilin, they are easy to visit by taxi or bicycle, if you are not in a package as we were.
West Hill
by xiquinho
This area features a small group of peaks and a park surrounding a tiny lake. The temple of the Great Buddhas offers memorable vegetarian dinners with live entertainment, and the three-storey Guilin Museum glimpse into China's historic and prehistoric past.
Solitary Beauty Peak - Study Cave
by Willettsworld
The most famous cave within the park is the Dushu (Study) Cave at the east foot of the peak, which looks like a stone room with natural windows and beds inside. It is said that Yan Tingzhi, governor of Guilin and also a famous writer, often studied here about 1,500 years ago.
