Hi, There are many routes from Germany,France and England going to Beijing,Guangzhou and Honk Kong. The most popular [shop around for the best price] from Europe are to Guangzhou and Hong Kong. From Guangzhou to Nanning is approx 2 hour flight time and the cost about 1000rmb. The sleeper train is 179rmb and takes 12 hours approx. The sleeper bus is approx 300rmb. Hong Kong to Nanning is 1 hours flight time approx at a cost of 1000rmb. The sleeper bus is 300rmb and takes 12 hours. Many used to go from Hong Kong by bus to Shenzhen and then fly to Nanning but that involved extra customs clearance leaving Hong Kong and entering China. A lot depends on personal choice, time delays changing transport and last but not least, finance!!

Travel Tips for Nanning

pass time in the open air between the blocks

by picek

I used to like going out in the city streets where you can't understand a word. I randomly ended up here in one of the new quarters somewhere close to Nanning provincial bus station, it's not even suburb here anymore because Nanning grew so huge, with block after a block mushrooming with irreperssible speed. These open areas, paved with concrete and surrounded by buildings, offer niches for people to hang out and socialize - and in the middle of day these activites were selling and shopping, playing cards and mahjong, playing pool and taking out the kids.
People pass time outside... yet these paved squares offer little of shadow, and behind high fences noises from another nearby construction site constantly penetrate somehow calm and moody air. As a foreigner here, you are noticed but there is atmosphere of some indifference towards strangers. They even don't get upset when you snap pics of them but from little of Chinese I could understand they said something of a Meiguo ren', which is often heard when they think we come from America because of light skin.

Nanning China

"Sights in Nanning"

There were many sights and sounds in and around the City of Nanning which I would have enjoyed to share on this page.. but with the limited space I chose a traditional time shared photo and dedicate not only the photo of Budda but also the photo of Lyn giving honor to Budda. Sorry you can not see her in full ..she is one very beautiful Chinese woman.

"Chinese Food"

A word to people that say " I love Chinese food" .. your either in for a treat or a BIG surprise...

I ate things in self-defense only because I thought it would eat me first if I didn't act.. :)

The photo is from one of the many open air markets that I really enjoyed walking through to see and take in the sights and sounds.

"Friends in Nanning"

I have to give a lot of respect and credit to my friends in Nanning. Without them willing to speak in English to me and their connections from getting a great hotel to arranging travel to the South China Sea for a day at the beach... I would have been lost since my Chinese is in a word "nonexistent".

They helped in everyway to make my stay safe and enjoyable. It was great to see their smiling faces everyday.
