This was the first hotel I came to when I was walking down West Street after getting off the Li River cruise boat. It looked like it was going to be too expensive when I looked at the front of it and indeed the prices they had listed behind reception (at RMB500-600) but I was quoted RMB150 for a nice modern looking room with 2 single beds. It also came with a TV, desk, mirror, a/c, phone, 2 chairs, table and wardrobe/shelves unit. Everything was nice and clean, including the bathroom, but it took a little time to get some hot water from the shower. The staff are nice and helpful plus the hotel has its own silver shop at the front! There are cheaper rooms around in the RMB60-100 price range so shop around when you arrive.
My friend and I stayed at the Venice Hotel for one night while we were in Yangshuo. We talked them down to 100 Yuan ($12.50), which is quite a bit less than the 400 Yuan they advertised. If you can get a room with a view, it is beautiful. Like other hotels in a similar price range, the beds are comfortable, there is air conditioning, TV and a decent bathroom. There is no internet in this hotel, however there are plenty of internet cafes in the area.
If you are looking for a place that is not so loud, the Venice Hotel is a good choice. Most of the hotels on or near West Street are very loud because you can hear the music blaring from all of the bars and clubs. The Venice Hotel is on the last block on West Street and there is much quieter.
Unique Quality: Beautiful view, close to the river, not as loud as the rest of West Street
Directions: On West Street, not even a block from the river
