Grand 0773 Hotel: Funkiest Hotel in China

This hotel was very clean and the rooms were very spacious. The artwork and colours throughout the hotel is very Andy Warhol and hippyish. It was a refreshing place to stay. There was DSL internet service and was pretty quick to load. The bathroom had a frosted sliding door and had been completey renovated with new fixtures. As usual in China, the beds were hard, but the pillows were very nice. The airconditioning worked with no problems. A kettle was provided along with Jasmine tea. They do accept credit cards

This hotel is within a 10 minute walk to the main street where after 8pm market vendors set up and also close to the Zhongshan Pedestrian Mall. It is also close to the canal and boat cruise launch. Delicious restaurants are closeby. Great location!

Guilin Backpackers Inn: Nice place to stay

I loved staying here. Good price, spotlessly clean, comfortable bed, great location, quiet, safe, friendly staff. Free internet both wifi and a connection in each room.

The Guilin Backpackers Inn was more a well priced simple hotel than a backpackers hostel. Hot water system in each bathroom so no waiting or off times. Rooms were individually airconditioned and heated.

The rooms were simply but beautifully decorated. They had a Japanese feel with lots of light timber and white walls. The beds were on the floor. Cable TV with the CCTV9 English language channel.

Outstanding location right beside the Gold and Silver Pagodas Lake. 2 min walk from the "Walking Street" restaurants and markets in the very center of the city. Small and quiet - only four rooms.

Guilin Ronghu Hotel 4*: Strange Hotel

It is on the WEST bank of Banyan Lake so a long way from anything if walking. The view of the lake and weeping willows at night time or early morning is so beautiful.
Villa style buildings means 3 large buildings with Reception in only one, not what I expected.
The tour desk was extremely disappointing; using a company which was far from reputable, leading to arguments about what was included on the Li River Cruise!
