Pleasantly surprised by the Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

We were so scared after reading all of the reviews of the resort online, so we were expecting the worse. There was no need for worrying, yes the resort was older but everything was clean! We stayed in a 1 bedroom unit. The bedroom and living room were very comparable to other 5 star resorts that we have stayed at. The bathroom and kitchen were in need of work but were both clean. The location was amazing, the beach was only seconds away and could be seen from the front of the resort. All of the staff was amazingly friendly. The concierge and activity planner especially! They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. If you are looking for a place to relax on the beach, the Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is the place to go! Don't expect a five star resort, but expect to have good service and get a nice tan!

Our trip to florida went great with a beautiful ending FT. Lauderdale ,Beach Resort Hotel and Suites,was beautiful!!! We got a double bedroom roomfor a really good price that was within a few blocks walking distance from the ocean. The water was great,beach very clean,well kept, lots of fossiles,small shells,and great views. The hotel has been beautifully landscaped with palms,flowers and a fountain,in one area with outside tables to sit and eat or reflect and enjoy the gardens surrounding you,also has a pool,sunbathing area,breakfast room,and is in process of a pool bar side bar area that looks very tropical!!!!! This is a great place for adults and kids.
Fabulous vacation

We just returned from 7 great days at the Ft Lauderdale Beach Resort. I am so glad we did not pay attention to the negative reviews as we have only positive things to say about this resort. First: check in is at 4:00 pm and since we drove in from Ohio we get to the resort at 6:00am. We got the just at Tropical Storm Arlene may her presence apparent. By 8:00 am we were in our room, facing the ocean on the 10th floor. The front desk staff were so very kind and accommodating, no questions asked. Fortunately the rain lasted just on Friday and the rest of the time was blue skies and sunshine. Our room was so clean and if anything was needed, all we had to do was ask. The pool was so clean and there was never a time when we had to fight for lounge chairs, plus there was a really nice jaccuzi which the kids loved. There were fun activities at the hotel but also many things to do within walking distance. Felipe the conscierge (sp) was great and gave us all the info we needed as was Chris the activities director. All in all I would rate this a 10 and will definately return.

Looks great from the outside, but the room had mold all over the cieling. There were small bugs in the bathroom. In the morning we found out there was no hot water and all the plug-in's near a mirror did not work. We could not take a shower and my wife could not even fix her hair. The front desk was no help. They told us to just wait for more hot water, but we still had to check-out on time. They refused to give us any discount. I would say this was the worst place I have ever stayed.

When I was reading all these review about this resort. I almost didn't go. But what a mistake that would have been. I was their for a week with no bugs at all. The room that I had was not 5 stars but at least 3 1/2. Over looking the city and the ocean, what a view. Free laundry facillities and towel with the pool. Only 1 1/2 blocks away to the ocean. I can't complain. Would I go back? Yes I would and I would bring friends.

Have to share my attempted stay here. For starters they have a coupon posted in a travelers magazine that states that they are directly across from the beach and yes this may be true if you cut across the parking lot and through the condos to get there. But this was not my main problem. Upon arrival we were issued our remote control at the desk along with the room key, upon entering the room we were greeted with ripped sheets, and the remote did'nt work by the way. After returning to the front desk 3 times we were given a piece of paper instructing us as to how to program our remote, not setting very well with me, he went back downstairs for a 4th time to get someone to come and set it for us. I in the meantime went to the desk to get a pen and upon opening the drawer was greeted to leftover pot, ( yes pot ) in the desk! That was enough for me, we went back to the desk for the 5th and final time where I was told, " Well lady, it's not like I put it there!" The managers excuse for the little welcome gift was that the maid was really busy. I still can't believe that this was left in a supposed clean room, but I'm more shocked at the lack of concern by these people had, not to mention the very unprofessional way that this problem was handled. The young lady who had informed me that she had not put it there, went so far as to ask her manager if she should charge me for the room even though we were definately checking out.
I would highly recommend looking elsewhere when it comes to lodging in Ft Lauderdale. The Holiday Inn is a bit further south on A1A, no drugs, rude staff, AND the remote worked just fine!

We were nervous of what to expect but there were no bugs and everything was clean ,they had good facilities and good staff really helpful and friendly,free laundry and parking and a great location

Our room faced the ocean (beautiful) during memorial day weekend (we stayed for the week). Cons- frig, accent furniture, once a week housekeeping (unless you pay), no in unit laundry unit, and smoking rooms (we have a 18 month old, help!). Pros- resort is upgrading, no bugs, breakfast while the sun comes up, off of work for 7 days (ha ha), and the nearby mall with theatre. The resort will probably be better after the renovations. Its still more the just a livable resort (ok, I own two five star time shares and have a bias). Its a good buy if no top notch resorts are available.
