I came to town with my friend Solomon, who lives 20km away. He had been to the city but never saw any site. We took a taxi the long way around to the pagoda in the Old Town. I saw the pagoda in the distance and a semiclean stream in front of me. I loved it instantly although I was really no where near the best part.
We kept walking and soon saw more curious shops and developed intrest for locals. We ducked into an alley to look at people houses. They didn't seem to mind. We fooled around with replica swords to more entertainment of the locals.
At the far end (to us, the near side to the city) was a referbished gate. We climbed up and had to pay a whole 10 RMB for both of us to enter. We had a great view of the smog to the west the old town to the east.
