1911 Wuchang Uprising Memorial
Once the Hubei Military Government Building, the central building is now known as the Red Chamber. This is where Sun Yat-Sen issued the edict to bring down the Qinq during the Xinhai Revolution and eventually they succeeded, leading to the establishment of the Republic of China, ending China's long dynastic history. The Hubei Military Government was the local government established after the revolutionists overtook the city to ensure it remained theirs.
The building features a lot of information about the Wuchang Uprising and the revolution, artifacts from the revolution, and images of important people. There is not much English information, so even just reading this tip should help you to better appreciate the great significance of this site and Wuhan's important role in modern Chinese history.
Entrance is 20 yuan.
