traveling from Wuhan to Yichang

by evojim

I am flying into Wuhan and need to find my way to Yichang for my Yangtze river cruise at the same day. I have some questions:

1) Is taking the bus from Wuhan to Yichang the quickest and the best way?
2) The long distance bus station at Xinhua road, Hankou. is where I board the bus to Yichang.
3) How often the bus ran from Wuhan to Yichang?
4) How far is the airport to the bus station approximately?

Thanks

Jim

Actually, the trains are faster and cheaper, but there're only a few departures daily and you might not be able to get a ticket on-the-spot, so most people choose to take the bus.
The airport shuttle will go to Hankou's Jinjiadun (main) long-distance bus station as well as Wuchang's Fujiapo long-distance bus station. Both of these stations (among others, of course) have plenty of departures to Yichang, fare could be 95 or 140 RMB depending on the type of vehicle they use. Frequency is no longer than 40 mins between departures. Or is there a specific need for you to use the Hankou Xinhua Lu long-distance bus station.
What time does your flight arrive and what time do you need to reach Yichang by?
I think it's about 23 km to Jinjiadun (main) long-distance bus station, 25 km to Xinhua Lu long-distance bus station, and 35 km to Fujiapo long-distance bus station.

Ellyse,
Thanks for the info. I dont have a preference on which bus station as long as I can get to Yichang in reasonable time. My plane lands in Wuhan around 1pm. The cruise ship sails from Yichang the next morning. There should be plenty of time for me to get to Yichang.

Ah, I understand. Yes, in that case just get off at whatever long-distance bus station the airport shuttle will arrive at -- most probably Jinjiadun (main) in Hankou -- and get a ticket on the next departure.
Personally though I would make use of the chance to see a bit of Wuhan's sights then take a later bus (latest departures around 2000 it seems) to Yichang. Would that be an option for you?

Just came back from my May holiday trip.
Nice Volvo buses leave from Hankou's Xinhua Lu long-distance bus station at 0730, 0830, 0930, 1130, 1300, 1400, 1500, 1600, 1800 and 2000. These cost 130 RMB.
Cheaper (95 RMB) departures from the same place at 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1330, 1430, 1630, 1730, 1830.

Travel Tips for Wuhan

Yangzi River

by socrates_07

Yangzi River or Chang Jiang (Long River) is the longest river of China as most of the people already know. And of course I wanted to be there since I started my China trips. That river has its very beautiful places, in Wuhan you wont find such places. (Maybe I am wrong, so, if you know some beautiful places, please tell me).
In the background you can see the "New Chang Jiang Brigde", or as many local people said: "Bridge No. 2"
