Yuelu MountainOld & New in Changsha
If you move around the country a bit, it is not difficult at all to feel how fast China is changing. We have seen it a thousand times.
But nowhere is it clearer than in Changsha, where we could see the old neighborhoods being torn down right while we were there. New high buildings were going up everywhere, and at the same time, entire older areas were disappearing forever.
This issue has continously brought us lots contradictory feelings. The initial reaction is to feel sad for all the history that is vanishing. On the other side, the Chinese seem to be quite happy to have their old cities renewed.
Anyway, we do not know much about Changhsa. We spent only a day wandering around, while waiting for our next train. It was our first day of our 2006 May Holiday Vacation.
