Last visit in January 2004
Changsha is a dull industrial city in the heart of Hunan province. It was our rest stop between Hong Kong and Zhangjiajie. Thus, there were no scenic spots visited in the city in our 5-day bus tour originating from Hong Kong. Wuyi Da Dao is the main thoroughfare that cuts through the centre of Changsha.
Being the capital city, it is the most modern city in Hunan province. However, by contrary, many smaller cities in neighbouring Guangdong province is much flashier and vibrant.
Uneventfully, one of our tour buses couldn't start up early in the morning. We had to wait 1.5 hours for the bus to be repaired.
In the process of the 1.5 hour delay, we encountered another unexpected problem, Hollye Hotel. Apparently, after you checkout your room, only one hotel staff was responsible for checking for any missing items in the rooms! Worse yet, the hotel claims there were missing shampoo bottles and little towelettes! Thus, creating a heated argument with our tour guide and the hotel front desk.
