This another major tourist destination of Nanjing.
This is the administrative residence of the Chinese rebel Hong Xiuquan, who led a Christian army called the Taiping Rebellion against the Manchu Qing dynasty and temporarily control Southern China up to Nanjing.
This is also the adminstrative residence of Koumintang President Chiang Kai Shek who made Nanjing the capital before moving to Chongqing when the Japanese invaded.
The whole palace can be toured in an hour will lead to better understanding of the historical events of China in the 20th century.

the Ming Tower known as "the Dressing Table of Empress Ma" is built atop the rectangular Citadel 40 meters long from east to west and 18 meters wide from south to north.
There are three arched doors in its south,and one in each of the three other sides.The inside floor is paved with square bricks.It grans yellow glazed roof with upturned caves was destroyed in war.Only the brick walls still stand here today.
From the top of the Rectangular Citadel,the buildings between the tomb Palace Gate and Rectangular Citadel can be clearly seen on an axial line.To the east is Dr.Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum,south is the Plum Blossom Hill,west is the Sun Yat-sen Botanical Garden and north,the Treasure Mound.

Located in the Eastern part of China, Nanjing is known as the "Capital of Ten Dynasties". Its history as China's ancient capital stretches from 220 A.D. to 1949, and it is also a famous centre for astronomy and other sciences. Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum, which is built on the slopes of Zijin Mountain, honours Dr Sun Yat Sen, the first democratic leader of China. Xuanwu Lake, Hong Wu's tomb, Linggu Temple Park, Zijin Mountain Observatory and Mochou Park are also popular tourist spots.
As one of the cultural centres of China, Nanjing provides visitors with a wide array of regional delicacies from every corner of the country, including lake crab, pressed duck, and fresh tea from the nearby hills. The city also offers a wealth of international and Chinese manufactured goods, while its dexterous local craftsmen are adept at reproducing old relics and antiques.
