"The Xiaoling Tomb"

The Xiaoling Tomb is the burial place of Zhu Yuanzhang,the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty and his wife Empress Ma.It is situated below the Dulong Mound at the southern foot of the Zhongshan Mountain in the western part of Nanjing.As one of the largest imperial tombs existent in China,it became a major historic and cultural site under state protection in 1961.
In 2003,the 27th sension of the Unesco World Heritage Committee approwed to accept it into the World Heraitage List as an associated site of "the imperial tombs of the Ming and Qing Dynasties."

the R.C is located behind the Ascension Bridge with the Ming Tower standing atop.The R.C. is a unique large-scale in front of the Treasure Mound that is the first of its kind.It was built with slabstones on the base of stone Sumeru pedestals with girdle decoration.After more than 600 years' erosion,the outer wall has become rather variegated with lime white spreading over the whole surface,which makes it more historic.
Mounting 54 steps through an arched tunnel in the middle of the R.C. is a narrow lane enclosed between the front wall of theTreasure City and the Rectangular Citadel,from which steps lead to the Ming Tower stop the R.C. on both sides.

"A Short stay in Nanjing"
Just a one night stay here, our aim, to see Dr Sun yatsen's mauseleum and then the Bridge over the Yangzi river. The weather was rain with mist so visibility was not good as my photos will show. Still had an enjoyable day though.
