My favorite restaurant was Jack's. It has an outdoor cafe for the summer and is located across the street from Nanjing University's dorm for foreign students.
I found the price to be extrememly low, the service great, and the food succulent! Being situated near Nanjing International Univerity, you had the chance to meet students from all over the world. The outdoor cafe was small and quaint. Located on a very small street, you were not exposed to the traffic pollution. Sizzling beef tenderloins! Delicious! But beware, it comes piping hot and 'sizzling.' It is accompanied by green and red peppers and white rice. It became a staple in my diet for my 3 week stay.

Zhonghua Gate (Zhonghua Men) was the biggest and most splendid city gate of Nanjing city wall in the Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The gate was built from 1366 to 1386.the wall was built with huge bricks and special cement made from lime,tung oil and sticky rice juice making the wall extraordinarily strong.
Zhonghua Gate castle is 128m long from south to north & 118.45m wide from east to west.It is 24.45m high and with total area of 15168 square metre

Known as the "Gate of China", this impressive gate lies in the southern wall of the city and dates 1368. The gate was then known as Jubao Gate; literally "Gathering Treasure Gate". It was built on the site of the south gate of the capital city of the Southern Tang dynasty. It was the largest among the thirteen gates of the city wall that surrounds Nanjing. In 1931, after the Republic of China government established Nanjing as its capital, the gate was renamed the Gate of China.
