The Linggu Pagoda
by Paul2001
The Linggue Pagoda is one of the more interesting attractions on the Purple Mountain. The pagoda is considered to be part of the large Linggu Temple complex but it is actually just a recent addition. The pagoda was originally built in 1929 as a memorial built for the Nationalist soldiers who had died in the revolution. The pagoda is 60.5m high and you can climb up the spiralling stairs up nine stories to the top for some very fine views providing it is not to hazy (after all this is China).

ribenaberry's new Nanjing Page
by ribenaberry
Nanjing was rather disapointing. I guess it was my fault... coz i didn't prepare well beforehand, didn't find out about its history before the trip. Most of the sights have to do with the tremultous history of Nanjing, the invasion of the Ming city by Manchus and later the Janpanese, which resulted in the well-known Nanjing Massacre...
one sad thing was the pollution problem that exists.. the air is always cloudy with fumes, and it smells of exhaust all the time.
