Wan Jiang Lou Hotel (Nanjing) 3-4 Dec
by imstress
Anyone heard of this hotel? I think it is located at No. 2 Xia Gua Qu Jinag Bian Lu. What is the nearest metro/ train station around? What is the nearest shopping around that is open at night? What can I do or see around this hotel? Is it far from town by taxi? Any night life/shopping in town? how much is the taxi fare? How far is it from taihu lake?

Even I am a nanjingren, I have not heard this hotel before. And from the little info. told, it should be located in Xiaguan District which is the northest region of Nanjing. A bit far from the downtown. The closest shopping area needs to take a cab for at least 10-15mins which is called Shan Xi road.
The lake is not called taihu in Nanjing. It is Xuan wu lake.
I have not been to Xia guan as time beings and can't imagine how things change so far.

Some internal China flights as well as flight from Hong Kong use the local Nanjing International Airport. However, you may find yourself having to fly in and out of Shanghai if you are catching a direct connection elsewhere.
There are a ton of taxi's and they are quite reasonable. One of the few places I know where the taxis charge by distance, and not time. So if you are caught in a traffic jam, you can relax - you won't see the meter tick away...
Ming Tomb
by yeikloen
The mausoleum lies at the northern foot of Mount Zijin (Mount Purple Gold). Legend says that in order to prevent robbery of the tomb, 13 same processions of funeral troops started from 13 city gates to cover the real burying site. The construction of the mausoleum began in 1381 and ended in 1405, taking 100 thousand labors 25 years with huge amount of expenditure. The original wall of the mausoleum was more than 22.5 kilometers. Under heavy guard of 5,000 military troops, the mausoleum was heavily constructed and planted.
Drum Tower
by Willettsworld
The Drum Tower was first built in 1382 and is geographically right in the centre of Nanjing, on a large busy roundabout which you need to take care with while crossing to get to it. It serves as a tea room today with a small museum downstairs which includes a model.
Admission: Y5.
