JinShanSi ( Golden Hill Temple) is in northwest Zhenjiang on a silted-up peninsula. First built in the East Jin Dynasty (317-420AD), the yellow-walled temple has strong associations with a Chinese classic fairy tale, The Story of White Snake.
The highest spot in the temple is the seven-tier, 30 metre high Cishou Pagoda, which was built a century ago to celebrate the birthday of Empress Cixi of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911AD).
