KOHINOOR RESTAURANT (Serving indian and pakistani cuisine, ofcourse HALAL).
I get to know it durring my recent visit to nanjing with RAMA TOURS,Kohinoor restaurant serve best vegie food including jin vegie.we wetre 80 pax (all vegie and jin vegie)and all of us really feel that its a best vegie food.
I can call it best restaurant in nanjing because its unique in some way, best and excelent food, good and comfortable atmospher, located in a 4 star hotel, rates are much cheaper than some other indian food street restaurants, service is so friendly and warm, totaly indian atmospher.
I like to say that restaurant food and service is really kohinoor.
Kohinoor Restaurant – Indian and Pakistani Cuisine(科侬诺尔餐厅)
Open 10am to 11pm
45 north Zhong shan road, Level 2 Ramada Plaza(华美达怡华酒店二楼中山北路45号)
(025)83308888 Ext 12013

The fairly new Kohinoor Restaurant sits above the lobby in the Ramada Hotel. The food is typical Indian and Pakistani fare although not as spicy. However, they could surely add some heat upon request.

As should be expected from a reputable hotel chain, the restaurant and hotel bathroom appear quite clean. Servers are attentive –
A typical meal for two would cost 70 to 100 yuan not including drinks
How to Get There

Take the subway to Gulou (鼓楼) station and walk north-west for a few minutes on Zhongshan Bei Lu (中山北路). Kohinoor is on the 2nd floor directly above the hotel lobby.

Kohinoor offers free home delivery within 3 kilometers of their store. If delivered farther than 3 kilometers away, the taxi fare will be added to the bill.

Old soldier does penance for past atrocities

by conniechong

"We went toward the Chinese captives bound in ropes, with rifles in our hands, the bayonets shining against the sunset. One Chinese captive faced me with his hands tied behind his back, smiling. I, trembling, stabbed him in the chest, and he howled and fell into the tide of the Yangtze River" This is an episode in the autobiography of Honda Tatsutaro,a former Japanese soldier, recounting how Japanese invading troops killed Chinese captives during the War of Resistance Against Japan. The now 91yr old arrived in Shanghai, knelt at the city's war memorial. "I must come to China to apologize before it is too late," said Tatsutaro. "I do not want to take my sins into the grave." He then turned to face the audience before reading several articles in Japan's constitution that uphold peace. After that, the repentant Tatsutaro criticized the Japanese Government led by Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi. "The constitution forbids waging wars, and it's been so many years of peace," said Tatsutaro. "It is unacceptable that Koizumi attempts to change the constitution on the excuse of self defence," he said. "I will defend the constitution with my life." Lasting three months in late 1937, the war was fought in a suburb of Shanghai. Involving about 1 million soldiers, it was the first major combat between China and Japan during the war. Tatsutaro joined troops stationed near Nanjing, China's capital at that time. Japanese troops massacred more than 300,000 locals after conquering the city in 1937. "He is 91, and nobody forced him to come," said Xu Qin, a staff member at the memorial who accompanied Tatsutaro during his visit. "We would forgive him even if he did not kneel down, and his behaviour here is evidence of his apology," said Xu. "I was supporting him by the hand all the way. His hand was warm and I think I can understand his heart," Xu added. (Source: China Daily)

Sun City (Tai Yang Gong)

This building is located beside the Xuanwu Lake. It houses a huge heated swimming pool, which we thought is great, especially during winter. We didn't actually go in for a visit, we only stood outside to take pictures. According to our local guide, the admission fee is pretty expensive (by local Chinese standards) - about 60 RMB.

The Tombs of the Meritorious Ministers..

by marsistanbul

The Tombs of the Meritorious Ministers Attached to the Xialing Tomb of the Ming Dynasty;During the period between fixing his tomb site and passing away himself,Zhu Yuanzhang granted the privilege to more than a dozen meritorious ministers to be buried beside his tomb. They formed the zone of accessory Xiaoling Tomb burials on the northern side of the Zhongshan Mountain, and produced a contrast to the core zone of the Xiaoling Tomb on the southern side.
These tombs are now collectivelly called"the Tombs of the Meritorious Ministers attached to the Xiaoling Tomb of the Ming Dynasty",which form a protective semi-circle around the Xiaoling Tomb. When the Xiaoling Tomb was proposed for inclusion in the World Heritage List, some of these tombs such as the tombs of Xu Da,Chang Yuncun,Li Wenzhong,Wu Liang,Wu Zhen and Qui Cheng were included and thus the entire northern and southern burials became a WORLD CULTURAL HERITAGE SITE.
