Travel Tips for Nanjing
Looking for souvenirs?! Try...
by The_Rabbit
Looking for souvenirs?! Try Fuzi Miao. I spent two long days in Nanjing's hazy, hot and humid weather shopping. If you have the Mandarin number system down, you can bargain with the merchants there. They also have a McDonald's and a KFC for the westerners. My fondest memory was the night-market. It was this bustling main street with hundreds of stands set up. People everywhere! Try the rickshaw's too; lot's of fun.

Dr. Sun has been respected as the Father of the modern China as he fought unyieldingly against the corrupt Qing government and led the 1911 revolution to end feudal system and found the Republic of China, leading the chinese into a new era.
To lead to the vault, there is a 480-meter-long and 50-meter-wide stairway which has 392 stairs.

Tomb of Sun Quan
by Willettsworld
This tomb lies within the Ming Tomb Scenic Area of the Purple Mountains. Sun Quan (182-250 A.D.), was the first emperor of the Wu Kingdom. He ascended the throne in Wuchang to start his reign as Huanglong in 229 A.D. Soon after that, he moved his capital to Jianye (modern day Nanjing). Upon his death he was buried in a hill at the foot of the Purple Mountain together with his former wife of the Bu family.
Carrie's new Nanjing page
by ccarrie
Hi
I was an expatriate originally from Toronto living in Nanjing, but have since moved to Seoul, Korea. I really enjoyed my time in Nanjing. The locals say that the city is rather conservative, and it may be by Chinese standards, but I find it lively with lots going on. Nanjing means southern capital and it is known for it's many learning institutions.
