An oasis of green, this large tree-covered series of hills just east of the city center offers clean air, relief from the heat of Nanjing's legendarily brutal summers, and a dense concentration of varied tourist sites. A day at Zijin Shan is highly recommended both to tourists with little time to spare and to longer-term residents seeking to escape the noise and pollution of the city.
The main sites are on Zijin Shan's southern slopes. Listed from west to east as you enter the area from the city center, they include the Filial Tomb of the Ming Dynasty (Ming Xiaoling), Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum (Zhongshan Ling), and the Linggu Temple. In addition to these three, you can find a number of tombs dating from the Ming Dynasty to the 20th century, Plum Blossom Hill (in full bloom at the beginning of March), the Music Pavilion (a good picnic location), and the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat-sen.
I have never seen so much antiques in my life and they are all not for sale.
I think they are very costly and I am sure I couldnt afford it.
If you need a hiding place from all the sales talk and need to rest your feet escape to the higher levels.
Saw many outstation cars with different licence plate parked at Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum. Some cars even from Harbin and Guangzhou. We reached here quite late, so parking space was scarce. Luckily our tour guide is a famous icon in Nanjing and she managed to get a strategic parking lot for our coach. Thanks god we didn't have to walk so far !
A very good exercise in climbing up all the steps.
Most itenaries to Nanjing will not include a visit to Memorial of Nanjing Massacre. However, I find
this mesuem very distinctive and it reminds us of an unforgettable past, which will engrave in most
chinese's memories...
Some of our tour members didn't want to visit this museum which they believed to fill with much "yin" energy ! It was raining in the morning, making that place looked gloomy and cool...
If you are into museum, this is an ideal place for you to learn the great history of China, from its diversity of cultures to artefacts.
Who says toilets in China are filthy, stinking and without doors ?? You might want to look at China at a different perspective again. Lots of things have been improving at a dramatic speed in China.
See this photo ! I found this toilet with an attached TV screen interesting and snapped it inside the toilet cubicle of Sunward Fishery Restaurant.
Chairman Mao welcoming you to China and witnessing the great Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge.
My Favourites: Memorial of Nanjing Massacre & Sunward Fishery Restaurant.
My Regrets: Going to "free" foot massage was a nightmare to me...so eerie!
